[Albion] Who has got the oldest Albion shirt?

Not me, for sure, but I wondered if we can flush out (with a picture) the oldest original replica Albion shirt out there, even better if matchworn?

The oldest ones I recall you could buy were the Bukta ones of the late 70s. I know you can get modern copies but don’t know if anyone still has an original or even if ones further back than that are out there?

Mate of mine has an original Adidas British Caledonian shirt but like many of them, it is more purple than blue in places now. Wish I'd kept all my old shirts as they would be worth a fortune now.

I had the Bukta one back in the day but it’s long gone now.
The oldest shirt I still have is the cup final t-shirt. My replica shirts only go back to the first Skint one.

It is correct that the Bukta shirts were the first Albion shirts sold as replicas. Anything (official) before then is going to be a players shirt. I have a number of Bukta shirts in my collection. The oldest are the 1977-1978 versions, with the filled in ‘V’ neck. I have a match version (no 9) which interestingly isn’t the nipple chafing sandpaper fabric, although the fans replica is.
As for away shirts, I have a yellow 78-80 match shirt.

These are the 79-80 versions with the open ‘V’ neck. Short sleeves is the match shirt, long sleeves is the replica, both are the sandpaper fabric.

Phil did I dream it or in 74/75 did we go all white with blue cuffs and collars, made by Admiral, almost a homage to Dirty Leeds for nicking our manager allbeit only for 44 days? :)

Why don't they have shirts with sleeves nowadays is it just cost? It can't be players choice as some players have undergarments and some even gloves!!

Some manufacturers still do long sleeves. And some teams get long sleeve shirts for the players only.

We did indeed. Not sure if it was an homage.

how does that work with the handball rule? I'm sure someone will correct me but I thought they do they judged it on anything below the short sleeve was handball, how would they judge it on a long sleeved shirt? below the elbow?

I was being flippant, I'm sure it was well into production before Cloughie ducked out, but I seem to remember seeing a team photo, with Dave Busby the first ever Albion black player and Worthing's very own Ricky Sopp in it.

I don’t think that is how handball is judged. Smaller player have shirt arms so they’d have less poking out the bottom of the sleeves. You’d get the shortest players choosing XXXL shirts to get away with it 😀
