Some posts recently have been a bit critical of Poyet, mainly for Crofts and Calderon going, but a question to try and assess how well we think he may or may not be doing.

Who Could Do A Better Job? or put another way:
Who Would You Prefer Instead Of Gus?

I genuinely can't think of ANYONE we realistically could attract who I'd rather at the club.

I think I have to agree with you on this.

There's no-one who springs to mind that would come, and even from the unlikely targets there's not many I would want instead of Gus

In the realms of fantasy I would say Mourinho without a second's hesitation.

Who has been critical of Poyet? The kids on nsc or the clueless?

Whilst I would not necessarily prefer him I would be more than happy with Danny Wilson as our manager. Not sure I've seen anything that is actually critical of Poyet, more of the questioning variety. which is strictly not allowed on here at the moment if you don't want some abuse.

it's ok shouting your mouth-off i.e. mourinho when you have a team of all stars on the field & on the bench. how would he go at gillingham ,southend or brighton for that matter. we shall never know.

If half of what I hear about his preparations for every game is true, he would do well anywhere, relative to the talent available to him.

If you think about what he has won and who he has won it with.

Porto: Won everything he could. Not a great side compared to the rest of Europe, only 2 or 3 exceptional players the rest he helped them out perform their ability. once he left they went back to their expected position within Europes clubs.

Chelsea: League title, F.A. Cup and League Cup. Some very good players and the rest exceptional ones. £200Million + spent on assembling possibly the best squad of players that money could buy.
However he could never get them to win the big games that mattered and won the league mainly by beating the lower teams and picking up the points continuously.

Inter: Treble this season. Although they have won the league for the last 5 years they are nothing like the squad he had at Chelsea. He started the season having had his best player sold in Ibrahimovic, but brought in a solid CB (Lucio) good play maker (Sneijder) and goalscorer (Milito) along with a decent keeper and his solid DM Mourinho has all he needs to win games.

The squad itself is not outstanding and there are possibly 10 other European sides with better squads and starting line ups but add Mourinho into that mix and he can get his players to perform in a disciplined way that makes it almost impossible for th opposition to win.

He could do wonders in a squad of professionals as long as they were willing to play his way

That could be it! others may have had greater success but I'd prefer Gus over anyone else.

The most curious thing..
Who has been critical of Poyet? The kids on nsc or the clueless?
Shouldn't that read "the kids on NSC who are clueless"?
