OK he made a mistake, but it was very late in the game and he only lost his rag because he so desparately wants to win. We know what he's like and that's why we like him - the flip side is that he will pick up a few bookings and the odd red card that way. So what? You want a full 11 of under-performing robots out there then?

On the one hand people like you snipe that 'players don't care', 'no pride in the shirt', etc and then the moment one of them gets a bit carried away you can't get on your high horse quick enough. He is one guy who works his socks off every game I see him, so cut him some f***ing slack.

Which thoroughly professional player will be getting your vote then, eh?

Meopham, Kent.
Can't blame the ref for that one, as the rule is quite clear. We want consistency from refs and I thought the ref was pretty consistent all day not accepting back-chat or acts of petulence. Kicking or throwing the ball away was ALWAYS going to be a yellow, and no exception being made for someone already on a booking or because it was late in the game.

Stupid from Whingy, utterly stupid. Hart was on the floor with cramp at the time, so we were looking at holding out with 10 (fit) men as it was. Plus, with Elphick struggling, we were already looking at being a key defender down next week. Not happy with him at all, but then again, from his reaction, I'm SURE he feels the same.

I love to blame the ref for our failings, but this one was all down to Whingy.

Sense at last. I just love the way people get so self-righteous in instances like this. Yes it was stupid, a reaction in the heat of the moment (which of course I'm sure none of the people slating Whing on here have ever done in their life), but to bang on about not voting for him as player of the season over one incident when he has been consistenty our best and most passionate player for at least the second half of the season and made countless goal saving tackles is dumb as f***.

A bit of common sense from the ref and he wouldn't have gone, Whingy knew instantly he had done wrong. Inexcusable but the ref loved it.

Completely agree, most ref's would have gone yellow, warning, red and he seemed very harsh on our players as opposed to Oldham's

News Of The World reports that 'Latics Andrew Whing' got sent off.

Phew! That's a relief, thought it was our one for a moment back there.

They also said that Owusu's first goal was going wide but the keeper deflected it in. That didn't happen either.

What are you talking about you tool, Whing had already been booked, therefore the referee had no choice.

I thought he was a pretty crap referee overall, particularly in the second half, but you can't seriously blame him for "not using common sense" in booking a player for blatantly throwing the ball away. That's what the rules are for.

If it had been an opponent, we'd have been screaming for the second yellow, and much as I love Andy Whing, he's got nobody to blame but himself.
