Whing, McNulty and Tunnicliffe - Why are they out of favour?

How does "on the bench for most games" (McNulty/Tunnicliffe) translate as "out in the cold"?


Might an alternative view be "providing real competition for places" which is what Poyet has been quoted as (and to a degree lauded for) wanting to create?


Whing as third or even fourth choice can accurately be described as being out of consideration but linking the other two greatly weakens the argument

There is more behind the 'out in the cold' comment than just whether they are on the bench or not.

Considering poyet has been in charge for 2 1/2 months personally I think he is doing some serious legwork with regards to setting up "his" squad and team, yes we are now seeing who are his preferred defence midfield and strikers - shoot me down in flames but has gp said he will play a team that the fans like or is he doing what he is paid to do, ie sort out the whole squad? Ffs get off his back and be SUPPORTIVE

so what if certain fans favourites are out in the cold, poyet is less than 3 months into revamping the squad and yes you can argue the results are not great but at least you can see a massive improvement on the pitch and the results will follow!

Poyet has made it absolutely clear that McNulty is being eased back to full fitness after an incredibly dangerous injury.. how much more transparent do people want it to be?

McNulty is a good player, and was not part of teh back four that were so dire at teh start of the season, any or all of them must be vulnerable

Couldn't Tunnicliffe going out on loan just trying to give him more experience as he is still pretty young, as often said on here, he's one for the future.

It also could be Poyet giving him a way to get competative games when he isn't 1st choice, rather than rotting in the reserves?

Whing does look like he is on his way out, which is a shame imo, but Poyet seems to prefer a different type of player to Whing, players who are quick, and go forward alot more than Whing does, even if, like Hoyte, they are often caught out of position or ending up the wrong side of their forward / winger.
