Carpenter can go, if we get a bid for Carole and Frutos, let them go. Hammond's a passenger but is under contract.

Henderson, and CKR

...were both lacking in fight today. Henderson looked dodgy throughout and CKR has to learn that he'll never be a good striker without scoring the 'bread and butter goals'.

Lynch looked impressive today, poor positioning but showed up the older players.

The effort levels were woeful considering most of the players are supposed to be playing for new contracts.

Don't usually moan..really...but that wasn't good today.

I'd keep all of them.

Under a different management, I'm sure all the players could do a certain job.

Not many of them deserved to wear the shirt today.
They should not need a manager to whip up pride and passion.
The problem here is many are in the comfort zone, they know the club cant replace them and just dont bother.

A bit harsh basing it all on one performance.

I'm sure all the players are good enough for league one, i have seen Southend play quite a few times this season and they are SHIT! If they are top, we will be around there, IF we get a new manager in.

Chippy was WAY of the pace. He's passed it. Let him go. He should be the player we loan out to Boston, not Kuipers. Lynch would make a cracking central midfielder.

A little harsh about the younger players, I think that most of them will be fine in Division 1, it can't be easy getting your first experience of league football in a struggling team at the foot of the table. When you consider the number of games that we might/could have/should have won then I don't think they have done that bad at all. In the last few weeks having Charlie in midfield may have made the difference, bringing in GNW earlier might also have helped.

It isn't all doom and gloom, is it!

This summer, my main objective would be to get rid of as many of the old, past their best players as possible - partly because they have lost the pace required, and also because they are bound to be the higher earners. That means Carpenter is first out the door, and I would be letting McCammon (obviously), Butters and Mayo follow him very sharpish. They're all out of contract. Then, I would be looking for someone desperate enough to take Hammond off our hands. If we did that, and replaced them with a couple of capable central midfielders, then I think our squad would look a lot more likely to compete and succeed in League 1.

Nicolas was a very capable midfielderwhen he came to us, and think with more games he would have been great, again Mcghee had a problem with him.Not sure if his contract is up, but don't think he will stay if MM is still here.

Its hardly harsh i dont think anyones basing it on 1 game. Were bottom of the league. So many players have not been up to it. And MM certainly hasn't

I'd keep pretty much all of the players, the lion's share of the blame lies at the manager's door.

Whats that famous saying "once the players cross that white line its down to them"

The funniest thing I heard was one fan when Henderson wastefully slammed a clearance straight into the crowd, shout out "McGhee thats shit" as though McGhee had kicked it himself?

But it's the manager who picks the players to cross the white line, motivates them, and sets them up tactically.

So is it the manager that tells strikers to try and dribble around goal keepers and for goal keepers to flap balls at opponenets feet to score?. Or even go out and play in a local derby with relegation starring them in the face with no passion or pride?
