Apparently, I am a late existentialist in the same mould as Jean Paul Sartre or Albert Camus although leaning towards Neitzsche.

This was what I suspected before taking the quiz. I'd always rejected the strictly Platonic rationalism (God - that man was a plank. Philosopher Kings and noble lies indeed!) but surprised I'd scored so low against Kant. I've always agreed with him that there are limits to our knowledge (although I rejected certain tenets and regarded Wittgenstein as the definitive voice in this area) but that we are all agreed that milfs rock.

In a nutshell, I believe that I make my own truths in this world but that in order for man to co-exist peacefully there must be some universal morals governing our actions. And porn. Lots of porn.

This is the most pretentious post of the day. Where's my prize?

Hither (sometimes Thither)
At university whilst studying Philosophy a person in my class called Descartes "Des Cartez". I laughed smugly as he did so, but then had to admit i knew nothing of the depth of the brain in a vat notions and found mistakes made by other people funny, and slumped into my chair harumphishly.

I am a late existentialist as well apparently. I believe life is absurd and should be understood within this paradigm.

Aristotle - Truth does not exist in some transcendent realm. We get to truth by applying reason to the physical world. The world follows logic and commonsense. Science if done properly is not to far from philosophy.

Q's 6 and 7 are illogical!

Barcombe
Sartre/Camus (late existentialists)

The world is absurd. No facts govern it. We live well once we truly accept the world's absurdity. YOU give our life's meaning, and YOU control your world. (see Nietzsche for very closely tied beliefs)

innit

I'm the same as you Buzzer which is odd as I think we differ politically, how does that happen ?.

In the same way that 2 christians can have the same beliefs but one is a socialist and the other a free marketeer. It's all in the interpretation and way in which we seek to achieve our goals.

If you are a left-leaning existentialist then I would hazard a guess that you tend towards an anarcho-libertarian society as expounded by Noam Chomsky et al. I'm definitely in the right-leaning libertarian camp but I hope you can see from previous threads and posts that we probably agree on certain things such as racism, intolerance towards minorities blah-de-blah.

Well, that's my view anyhoo.

...and I also win 2nd prize in the most pretentious post of the day award. So where's my prize?

I'm Aristotle, which is quite good as I researched him most in my History of Politics module I did a couple of years ago!
