Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
BUSA Hockey and Cricket.

Lost in the BUSA cricket national quarter finals to Loughbrough who went on to win the tournament.

We dropped their No. 3 off his first ball and he went on to score 128*

Izmir, Southern Turkey
Grass Hockey Olympic devlopment and South Saxons second, Bournemouth and wset hants seconds and East grindtead thirds. British College semi-finalists where we lost to a massively offside goal by Loughborough. Threw my stick in frustration and just missed one of refs.... straight red card :(

Knees did for me by the time I was 21. Now just an old goalkeeper.

Rugby Horsham and Sussex U-19s. Rugby for Portsmouth RN/RM Command.

Hockey for United Services (Portsmouth Area). Now I coach instead. Went from a "flying forward" to a "skilful passer" in Midfield, then a "Dependable" defender, finally to a "psychotic" goalkeeper. Knees did for me in the end, went to being an umpire, then coach. I still take a stick when I teach my Year 6s, and I have been known to take part in the game I am supposed to be umpiring/teaching/coaching!

I finished one place above ex England international Alan Yates in a sea fishing competition if that counts?

Aside from that i'm affraid my sporting achievements have been pretty limited, A few more fishing medals, A silver medal in a local karate comp, 2 medals for finishing 10k fun runs ( one of which turned out to be an argus sponsored amateaur athletics meeting and I think they gave me the medal out of sympathy ) And I managed the London - Brighton bike ride in nothing approaching a record time.

There comes a point when you realise maybe your just not cut out for this sporting mullarky. :drink: :smokin:

Sporting highs came late in life for me. I won our works Verterans 100m sprint champion for the South East. The following year I came 2nd. ...but that was because somebody else decided to enter the race too. most unsporting.

I am rightly proud of my 2 gongs!

Footie for Sussex & Albion schoolboys until I was 16, When we moved from Lewes to Crowborough :(

I nut-megged Mark Lawrensen once & scored a pen. against Eric Steele. :rave:

Beat Teddy Maybank, 3-1, in a Crowborough V Corals squash match, if that counts. :clap2:

I played for Brighton Boys footy team for 1 game, and also played for Brighton & Hove cricket team once - my sporting career kinda died with a long term injury at the time i was just about old enough to drink

a few of my mates played to a good level and got into the Albion youth team and sussex footy teams though

I've done bugger all and I feel crap because I've wasted my entire life so far. I keep getting reminded that I shouldn't think about bad things, but about good things that make me happy. Happy happy happy happy.
