Anybody who genuinely thinks we’re getting Europe and Palace aren’t are delusional and setting themselves up for massive disappointment
Because I believe that an organization should do all it can because it is in the interest of fans and players. But why should Urfa be open the deadline is gone
So here is the thing. I genuinely think that we deserve Europe. I genuinely think that we should be given the Conference place for finishing where we finished.Anybody who genuinely thinks we’re getting Europe and Palace aren’t are delusional and setting themselves up for massive disappointment
Well you kinda have said you are opposed to us qualifying if UEFA sticks to its rules, because that is exactly how we will get there. And I see no difference in us "earning our place." Had Forest beaten Chelsea and Chelsea won the Conference, or City beaten Palace, than if Palace get thrown out. Essentially, with all these scenarios, we have done nothing extra to get into Europe. In all these scenarios, we qualify by coming 8th with other results getting us over the line.I have not said I am opposed to us playing in Europe if UEFA sticks to its ‘rules’. That is something you have said here.
What I have said is that I think that Palace have earned their place by winning the FA Cup. This has meant that where we finished in the league was not high enough to earn a place in a European competition.
Palace are now offering to make changes so that they can meet the criteria for entry. I think that UEFA should be open to allowing for those changes to take place.
If we earn our place due to what might be construed as an administrative error, then that doesn’t sit right. Earning your place happens on the pitch where - if you adhere to the rules governing play, players, and FFP - team performance leads to success and qualification.
Looking back to our qualification for Europa, had we been barred entry because we missed an administrative date I would feel that we would have been unfairly treated and another team would have earned a place unfairly. I imagine you would feel the same, but that’s for you to say.
As to our league position due to other teams results. The whole season is about results. Where you finish is where you finish.
Exactly that’s why they should be expelledBecause I believe that an organization should do all it can because it is in the interest of fans and players.
I haven’t.Well you kinda have said you are opposed to us qualifying if UEFA sticks to its rules, because that is exactly how we will get there. And I see no difference in us "earning our place." They have had loads of luck over the years. They got Promoted when not planning for it. Dougie Freedman walked away as manager and they sold their best youth product for a then Championship record to cover losses because they didn't really believe they were going to be promoted.Participating in this thread has made me feel more sorry for Palace fans. It’s made me realize how unjust it will feel to them. They will feel like they have been entirely robbed. They have earned the right to be there.
(I will laugh my tits off)
You did read the line in parentheses didn’t you? They have had loads of luck over the years. They got Promoted when not planning for it. Dougie Freedman walked away as manager and they sold their best youth product for a then Championship record to cover losses because they didn't really believe they were going to be promoted.
Then they signed millions of players as they didn't have a plan. After a few games in the Premier League their manager walks away recommending his replacement who they interview and decided they didn't want. so offer the job to a couple of other people, who then rejects them so offer the job to the recommended man. He keeps them up.
They then need money to keep them in the Premier League and somehow comes up with a model of convincing American Billionaires to put money into the club whilest still letting Parish keep overall control.
Now because they didn't really believe they were going to get into Europe, they ignore a deadline set to deal with issues they most likely would face, and because they didn't expect it, should be allowed to ignore that deadline and do what they should have done, so they can play.
They have had outrageous luck to aid their progress, so you shouldn't feel sorry for their fans.
Yes.You did read the line in parentheses didn’t you?
Good.Yes.
Fully expect Palace to get their place, hence this poll - to stop them gloating again.
But peeved that so many Brighton fans actually want them to get the place, despite non-complicance. Poor effort.
Weird interpretation of your poll.
You asked which Club do we “expect” to see in Europe not which Club do we “want” in Europe. Entirely different question - one is about how we perceive UEFA’s is dealing with the infringement/expected outcome and one is whether we would want to be in Europe ourselves.
I suspect, if you had asked the latter question, 99.9% of Brighton fans would have said ‘Brighton’.
I have read through the entire thread, only one Brighton fan has said Palace should get the place and even that looked like a woosh to me.
Fair enough. I assumed you were referring to comments on this thread. My first sentence refers to my poll. Both the poll and the sentence include the word 'expect'.
My second sentence is referring to general sentiment - on the main thread, social media etc - where many (some) Albion have expressed a view that Palace 'deserve' the place.
Hope that clarifies it for you. Smh.
Fair enough. I assumed you were referring to comments on this thread.
I don’t do social media so haven’t seen comments from Brighton fans wanting Palace to avoid sanctions.
That said there were quite a few on the match day FA Cup thread that seemed very pleased for Palace to have knocked out City (and spoiled our chances too) - I thought that was a poor show!
Probably just standard mental gymnastics - recognising the inevitable and accepting it.Fully expect Palace to get their place, hence this poll - to stop them gloating again.
But peeved that so many Brighton fans actually want them to get the place, despite non-complicance. Poor effort.
I doubt it for the conference league we would find ourselves in. With a prize of £12m and the season derailed it wouldn’t be worth it.The more I read about the situation the clearer it seems. Palace broke the rules and cannot compete in the same competition as Lyon. End of story. If they are bailed out by Eufa, will Tony make a fuss?
what if we won it?I doubt it for the conference league we would find ourselves in. With a prize of £12m and the season derailed it wouldn’t be worth it.
