wrong on the 1st point. I'm not trying to take the piss out of your views but you obviously do give a f*** about the queen. You have very strong opinions about her.
I personally think that Land Of Hope And Glory should be sung whenever an England team is playing (as is the case at the Commonwealth Games when England win a gold medal), with GSTQ used for a combined GBR team (Olympics etc...)
That leaves a hole for when there's a combined UK team though....
Logically it would make most sense for each of the four "countries" (or two countries one of which has two more sub-countries, or whatever) to have their own anthems and use the current anthem only for when the entire UK is being represented.
Anthems do end up being a pain in the arse though - there's the recently invented "Ireland's Call" for all-island sports here (rugby, cricket, hockey, pretty much everything -except- football actually) which is played as the sole anthem at home games in Belfast and all away games for rugby at least. I can't take an anthem written by a famed crooner (Phil Coulter) seriously, really.
If its a combined UK team then play GSTQ, if its individual nations then play Flower of Scotland, Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau - Land of my Fathers, Land of Hope and Glory and A Londonderry Air( Danny Boy) ( trouble is the N Irish want to sing GSTQ )
It just seems mad that at Cardiff the welsh sing their hearts out to Hen Wlad and then we sing GSTQ which is the national Anthem of the United Kingdom, not England alone!
I like Jerusalem but it doesn't give me goose bumps and inspire me in the way God Save The Queen Does. I love our National Anthem and we had better not change it.
