He arguably did start to turn the club around again after Gritt was sacked. However, we would not have done anywhere near as well as we have done if he had remained in charge for longer. In fact his leaving was a blessing in disguise.

Also, Vale fans must have changed their tune. As isn’t this the same bloke who took over from Rudge and got Vale relegated in his first season (or first full season) and then under him Vale haven’t finished in the top 10 since then and for most of their life in Division 2 have finished in the lower reaches of the bottom of the table.
