I think its obvious now that we need someone new upfront, Knight going through a poor patch and Virgs/Mcphee arent gonna score week in week out. I appreciate its hard to get people in but surely there must be someone on loan from a premiership club whose worth taking a chance on. We got Yeates last year for a bit and then Benji so whats stopping us doing that again? Also we have Blackwell and Lees wages now which must help a bit.

Another striker and possibly a wide right midfielder should see us getting a bit more creative which is gonna be crucial this season.

..and with our current financial position, how do you propose we pay for their wages?

What we have is what we are stuck with now until/if Falmer happens, and we'll also be losing players like Knight & Cullip soon as i doubt we can afford to give them new contracts in the summer.

I can't see any new players coming unless it's on loan and their club pays a hefty part of their wages.

If Roberts gets fit soon, how about a loan swop with Leicester for Trevor Benjamin, Micky Adams has said Leicester will more than likely as Walker is out for a minimum of a month and may need surgery.

I am sure Adams would rather have his job riding on how well Roberts does in goal rather than how well Pressman does in goal, Roberts would inspire far more confidence in the Leicester defence than Pressman does, confidence is what they need at the minute.

I would rather keep May on the bench, lose Roberts and bring in Benjamin up front instead of keeping Roberts on the bench

Just read the Argus online piece where McGhee kind of explains all my questions.

He wants to give McPhee a chance before bringing in a youngster from another club, and cant afford anyone else so I guess we're stuck with what we've got. Lets just hope its enough!

Worrying that Knight and Cullip arent best pleased with the situation too.

It will be a loan signing and even then we may have to pay a percentage of the wages, I'm guessing a youngster from Arsenal afetr McGhee's given McPhee a run out if he dont do enough.

Leon needs to score a few goals first before he starts moaning to all and sundry in the press; needs to grow up at times does our Leon!

Also as Cullip put himself on the transfer list fo about a year in the recent past when we were not good enough for him; he can hardly be giving interviews as to how his loyalty is not being rewarded etc either!

Next summer I would expect most of Roberts, Butters, Oatway, Hart, Jones and Watson to leave the club when their contacts expire. To me this would free up enough cash to keep Cullip and Knight; assuming they are both realistic in their wage demands

think we should cash in on danny and leon, get some prem youngsters on loan, ,its the only way forward we have to win games or b4 we know it we will be in a dog fight and withthe present situation with the finances the moral would be oa a all time low,we dont need to rely on danny and leon ,lets get rid now while the rep is high

Watching Cullip he is a tremendous defender and great leader, but I think he has failed to go higher in the league because of a tendancy to dive in at times and some iffy distribution.

If he or Knight are going to leave then we should try and get some money for them, and put a little towards the £2m fund and the rest to getting 3/4 quality players.

I dont want to see either of them go but if push came to shove we should try to keep Cullip more than Knight.

i wouldnt see us getting more than 75-100k for cullip, and 250-350k for knight, and this wouldnt be enough to bring in any players, only enough for a few loan signings and we would need 2 replace cullip with one of these, and knight with the other.

I think you're overestimating their worth. Stern John has just moved for £200K. If we got that for Knight, we'd only see £100k and that isn't going to go far.

If we got £250k for the both of them and we were dedicated a large percentage on wages then we could get a few really decent loanees in.

Hopefully they would be the difference between us nicking the odd win and draw and get us some welcome wins to put a gap between the bottom three.

Where's the new striker coming from ?

I think the only likely source for a striker at the moment is maybe a few NSC triallists or cloud cuckoo land

I reckon we should give the Canvey Islansd striker Lee Boylan a trial, this bloke scores goals for fun.
He has scored over 150 in the last 3 seasons

Dont know if he could handle the jump from the Conference to The Championship, but who would of thought Jon Stead would do so well moving into the premiership from the third division.

I doubt he would cost much either.

Definatley worth a trial!!

Or there is the Falkirk striker Daryl Duffy who has scored an amazing 15 goals all ready this season, but I think he would cost too much.
