On another forum we were talking about the fact nearly 2,000 people turned up during working hours to Teeside to see Boro's new signing.
The thread poster said this is proof that no one in the North-East works (as a joke). However some muppet is claiming we don't know our geography and that Middlesbrough ISN'T in the North-East!
So that begs the question....where is it? ???

I recall we once had a Man U fan where I work who, when challenged, couldn't even point out Manchester on a map of the UK - he thought it was somewhere just east of Birmingham.

This bloke reckons us Southeners don't think anywhere exists north of the Watford gap!
(For the record, this is a University student who thinks he has some intelligence).

Middlesbrough used to be in Yorkshire before the re-organisation of the counties. Teeside is north of Yorkshire.
Definitely North East (it's on the east coast)

Just a point, it isn't 'the' Watford gap. Watford Gap is a name of a service station on the M1 in Northampton.

It is North East but it wasnt on the coast when I went up there this week with my son. Hartlepool is and so is the place we went to Peterlee but not Middlesbro itself unless the floods have brought the seas inland. If I am wrong no doubt I will be corrected.

I knew someone from Middlesbrough at uni and he said he didn't really think he was from the North East.

I guess Teeside is sort of a bit too far up to be just the East but not necessarily REALLY North Eastern.

That said, if Manchester and Liverpool are in the North West, then Middlesbrough is in the North East.

Hardly picking on you.

Just don't see why people on here feel the need to be so pedantic about other people's posts.

He missed a THE out. Hardly a BIG deal.

Don't care enough to get into an argument about it to be honest.

Brighton are winning, the sun is out. Can't well all jus GET along..?:)
