It feels like he's one that's eyeing his next move, and probably has been since he joined (at least his agent has been). Better to sell him this summer when he has 3 years left on his contract and get maximum value for him. He'll definitely strikes me as a player that would run his contract down and go on a free.

If Pedro gets in the box more and therefore scores a few more goals he will be gold dust.
But if he's just going to piss around and slow the game to a crawl then he can go.

In all honesty, it's more self-preservation, at least on my part. I think he's a great footballer and a key member of our squad. The "rough edges" can be excused because it's easy to forget that he's still only 23 and has masses of room to grow and fulfil his potential.
I expect him to leave though, and it's nicer to convince myself that it's not that big a loss when in reality it would be huge.

Lots of talk here about his goals (most notably penalties, and his role in winning them) but he has a decent number of assists too. Quality ones to boot, just recall the winning goals against City and Bournemouth (away) and Baleba’s equalizer at Fulham this season.

When he's on song he's a fantastic asset to the team but when he's not he is so frustrating to watch but even then he can produce a bit of magic to turn a game around. Would hate to see him leave before the rougher edges are smoothed out but I think he's likely to leave in the summer (gut feeling nothing more concrete)

I reckon Mr Bloom is past his willingness to sell our best players and really wants to have a pop at CL,no point spending what we did and not want progression,FH will have learnt a shed load about the job he's got and will have the players in a better shape and mindset next season,we obviously need a couple of editions but I'd be amazed if Pedro was sold unless he's unhappy,even then I reckon he'll be told roll up your sleeves and get on with it mate.

agreed. Same for Ferguson who is 20... still only 20... and a far better ' goal scorer ' the Pedro imo.
I would be sad if we cant get both of these guys performing more on a regular basis.
There have been flashes where he has looked like he will be genuine world class but for whatever reason he's not hit consistency this season. Plenty of teams will take a gamble on him improving beyond what is already very healthy premier league pedigree.

I had a quick look, but stats don't seem to suggest a particular pattern of JP & DW scoring/assisting less when partnering each other than when each plays with GR. My perception was that they were very good as a pair at the start of the season with JP playing behind. Welbeck was excellent at being the pivot that allowed the fliers like JP, Minteh and Mitoma to bomb on past defences.
The issue, came as it always seems to come when we faced the low block. With players lined up in front of them, the football becomes less free flowing and space is at a premium. JP has a tendency to drop deep and try to do too much, rather than battling centre halves. My view is that it's those games that need the 'big strong lad' option that Evan Ferguson may have provided. His lack of form/fitness has prevented us from taking the approach that City have utilised with Haaland in those games over the last few seasons: If the opponent wants to withdraw into the six yard box, use the battering ram.

Danny Welbeck will be 35 in November, and whilst I have nothing but admiration for him in reaching double figures in the Prem for the first time in his career, only Joao Pedro can give us that 15-18 goals per season that massively helps a side aspiring to be in the European places. Yes, we finished 6th without one in 22/23, but we had the world class Alexis McAllister finish top scorer with 12 goals from midfield.
If Brentford do pip us for 8th it will be mainly due to Wissa and Mbeuno bagging 18 goals apiece, while us, Bournemouth and Fulham have top scorers with just 10, 12 and 11 goals apiece.
We need to hang on to JP, and I'm very excited to see him and Rutter develop their partnership in 25/26.

I think it’s been clear for most of the season and certainly after Christmas that JP sees himself moving onto a bigger club and I don’t think we are standing in his way.
In fact I think we are encouraging clubs to bid for him to drive the price up and show JP that we are supporting him in his next step.
My concern is that I’m not sure I see a CL team coming in for him. Their priorities seem to be elsewhere.
If we don’t have a decent bid, and he understands that he doesn’t have the options he thought he would, and so knuckles down next season, then all good.

I feel like I might have been a bit harsh myself last night, and maybe a lot of us are guilty of judging him on recent events where his petulance has come to the fore.
There's undoubtedly a really good player in there who perhaps we haven't got the best out of this season, thanks in no small part to injuries to him and others. I certainly wasn't saying I'd be glad to lose him. Just that if we had to lose one of the better players, it's probably him I'd be least angsty about, compared to Mitoma, Baleba or Georgi, say.

I agree about JP. A fine player (but still young and developing) .
But nonetheless our goal scoring is pretty healthy even compared to Brentford (just 4 goals more) and comes from all over the pitch. We have more PL goal scorers (i think) that any other team. (16 different goalscorers) However its our defending and goals conceded thats the concern this season. Only Wolves, West Ham, Spurs and the bottom three have conceded more.
