[Albion] Where in the world is Joao Pedro?

I think so too. Just doesn’t seem the type of personality that fits into Fabian’s ‘together’ mentality.
I also think we always have at least a couple of players we are looking to sell every summer transfer window.
My guess this summer is;
Joao Pedro
Julio Enciso
Sima

Would be happy with this if it meant retaining Bart, Baleba and Mitoma plus our other Crown Jewels.
Sarmiento too. Should get a decent combined fee for that lot.

Good player, but head has gone. I wouldn't be surprised if it is already a done deal and he's just not motivated. think it will be announced very early in the summer

Very good player, and we will miss him more than we may think, but we have plenty of cover in his best position.
Makes sense to move him on, if he is generating interest.

Anyone who thinks it will be ok to sell João Pedro needs to give their head a wobble. He's Brazil's number 9 but we are ok with losing him to Chelsea? Give me a break. We can't have a team of nice lads, we need the dark arts somewhere in the team.

Thank you for saying something sensible.

The consensus on this thread is, to me, completely incomprehensible.

Yes i have a bit of a distaste for the dives he's made, i don't think he really should have posted pics of himself next to a pool after we lost to palace and I'd prefer he hadn't got sent off the other day, though I've seen way worse .... But he's a quality young player. How can anyone not see what an asset to the squad he is? And he's going to improve.

We would be fine if he left, but we're a much more threatening team with him in it.

Keep unless we get a very very good offer in my view

Sarmiento and Sima are worth a couple of million each, no more. There are a few fringe players and loanees who are likely to leave as part of the churn, let's say total 5-8m.

Enciso, after a good loan spell might be worth 30m to the right team. João Pedro, what 60m maybe?

I'd also expect Adingra to leave this summer, something is wrong there. Maybe 20m for him from France or Italy, perhaps a reunion with RDZ.

We might get another million as a percentage of Cov's sell on for Gyokeres.

The objective should be keeping hold of Mitoma and Baleba, but I'm not convinced we'll be able to keep both.

To be a true master of the dark arts, you need one ability above all others.........you don't get caught. (see eg El Abd A, Veltman J et al)

We've been better without him. Won't be missed that much.

Not better than trossard. Trossard was a winger and got more non pen goals and assists.

Pedro barely ever scores and assists apart from pens
30 goals and 10 assists in 70 games for us in all competitions is an excellent return regardless of how he scored them. Dismissing fifteen of the goals because they were penalties seems a little unfair, particularly when you drill down and realise that he won nine of those himself and those are not counted in his assists total, so by another metric he can be said to have 49 goal involvements in 70 matches.

Interesting perspective.

We definitely need to get more squad members up to speed with the art of diving.

I actually really rate Jackson. Wouldn't be that bad if Pedro went one way and Jackson came the other
Personally I'd rather have Nunez over Jackson.

Jackson can finish but don't forget he was absolutely awful in his first full season at Chelsea. He's also a bit lightweight. Nunez is obviously a bit too profligate but he's maintained popularity with their fans which suggests he's a team player and has done his job despite being constantly left on the bench. No Trossard-esque strops with Darwin Nunez, and we need players like that because our strength has always been through competition with relatively few "star" names.

Weird reaction on here.

Selling him doesn't seem as catastrophic as it would have done in January, but he's still one of our most talented players and we'd definitely need to spend a big chunk of money to replace his quality. He also works incredibly hard for the team, every single game. That performance up at Newcastle has been quickly forgotten by some, who'd rather paint him as some mercenary South American hot-head.

He was also name checked as part of the leadership group by Hurzeler earlier on in this season, and there's nothing to suggest he isn't popular amongst the squad. The ill discipline has been frustrating, he obviously needs to learn how to control his temper, but he is still only 23.

I hope we keep him, he's a great player with an incredibly high ceiling.

Well, also if you took out penalties from strikers goal returns, their numbers would look less impressive.

I reckon Shearer, Kane, Lineker etc are pretty happy their record includes the goals they scored from the spot

I just cherry picked the two players people were discussing over the past 24 hours on this very thread and made clear my preference as a discussion point.

But out of interest, why are you so convinced that Nunez in particular wouldn't come here? Over the past 3 seasons, only 6 teams have scored more points than we have, and you'd imagine we'd come recommended by the likes of Ali Mac and the wider football fraternity, and from a footballing point of view, we're a competitive club. None of us have any idea what his salary demands would be and even if we offered less than other suiters, those other suiters would probably end up benching him a lot more than we would.

I dunno, maybe his age and therefore a demand for a bumper contract mean that we'd be out of the running, but I'm not certain.

All true. Many replies on this thread though show this to be one of those instances where the facts don't match the perception. It doesn't feel like he's an almost 1 in 2 striker.

Probably because in our time in the Premier League, we have no experience of what those feel like. :ROFLMAO:

(Still love you Neal).

The cost of his salary, yeh. Other clubs would offer him more.

But also they paid 80m for him. They will probably want at least 50m back

FWIW from what I've seen this season Pedro & Welbeck don't seem to play that well together. Both have looked better with Rutter (and now MOR) in the 10. IMO that is because really Pedro is a 9 not a 10. If they ever both start again together for BHA I'd like to see a standard 4-4-2 and see how that goes.

Pedro clearly has ambition and I think we need Europe to keep him beyond July.

Pedro going = I'd be sad but not gutted. Going to Chelsea = £80m minimum, just because it's them.
