That is an excellent photo of the Royal Albion - it would be interesting to see it alongside a contemporary photo.

You can see the line of the beach where the groyne by the pier is, do you think the water line is currently significantly further out? If so did they shovel the pebbles down the beach from what is now Marine Parade, or import a load from elsewhere ?

Used to always be so shit-scared of Virgin shop-staff sneering at me vinyl purchases that wherever possible I'd pay the extra non-sneer surcharge by going that extra mile to shop at Our Price :(

It was great and there was added kudos for having a Virgin bag to carry your schoolbooks around.

My mother used to think that the place was full of 'pot-smoking weirdos" and that just going into the place was a prelude to drug-induced depravity.

If only ....
