In the first place?

I think it was in one of my non-NSC going periods as I cant remember it. How did it first come about?

Perhaps someone just wanted to wind up all those with an inexplicable hatred of little Dennis.

This isn't gospel but I heard that Wise and Bloom know each other a bit socially. The story I was told was that Wise, desperate to get back into the game and re-establish his tarnished reputation after Newcastle debacle, was virtually lined up as Albion boss to take over in the summer. But the crowd reaction to RS after Stockport game persuaded TB otherwise...he knew he couldn't do it especially as a year earlier Wilkins has been so controversially sacked. And so now it's re-surfaces...

it originated from the Mirror i recall, back last winter prior to Slades appointment. It didnt make any sence then either, and seemed to be based on the vague notion that they might play poker together.

Ken Brown at Millwall is the link I guess

The argus claimed Brown and Wise are friends from Millwall. But in one article today they say Wise doesn't have a lot of support on the board.

Where did the Wise rumour come from?

That very question was raised at the Annual shareholders' meeting. Since Tony Bloom wasn't there, it was answered by Ken Brown ... something along the lines of "What's wrong with Dennis Wise? He got me to the cup final".

I gather some shareholders were less than impressed.

To be honest it doesn't matter what the board or shareholders think since Bloom owns 70% of the club anyway. He can do what he likes.

As to where the Wise rumour came from, obviously at some stage it's originated from Bloom himself.

But after that, and how it got in the papers - I heard on pretty good authority Wise has a house close to old boss Dave Bassett, and had told him there was a very good chance he'd be going to Brighton. This was months ago. From there it made the papers. Also it was the Sun that had it first, not the Mirror.
