The crispy fired onions at Slim Chickens are good (like the Onion straws you get in the US), shame that the rest of it is very overpriced and poor quality.
Smokies in Burgess Hill does proper hand battered real onion rings which are good but expensive.

My go to for onion rings is Kingfish in Henfield, an unusual addition to my large cod and chips maybe, but l love em.

Just been to Henfield to trat myself to some, problem was it took so long to get them home on the bus they have turned rubbery and gone cold.
I often make my own.......
