I know times are tough, but do we really have to resort to eating Blancmange?
And don't get me started on evaporated milk.

I only opened the thread to see if this had been posted, I’m surprised it took until post #20 though :lolol:
Don't tell me.

I had a very elderly great aunt who was born in 1910. When I was a kid she'd make us it ans aerve it with condensed milk. We used to love it but I think the last time I had it was the mid nineties.

Might make some for my daughter tonight!

As an aside, did anyone like/eat the skin?

For me it was 🤮 but fortunately my dad liked it!
I liked it.

Jelly made with mild wasn't it?

Primary school was the last time I saw it, but always opted for cornflake tart & custard or rice pudding with a dollop of jam in the middle. I actually had an Oliver Twist moment with the cornflake tart once.
Custard = disgusting. Rice pudding = disgusting. Rice is supposed to be steamed or fried. Dollops and tarts = depends Dollops of what? Jam OK. Tarts = depends on the tart. Oh, and blancmange = disgusting.

Probably not since junior school. So nearly 50 years ago!

Angel Delight on the other hand, still have it occasionally as a guilty treat/pleasure.

Crushed ginger nuts base, butterscotch Angel Delight and tinned peaches 😀
Butterscotch Angel delight ..my fav
Disgusting, last time I had it was at school and it always had a thick pink rubbery skin
😳 semolina pudding at school used to make me hurl….Mrs Jones the English teacher had thick pink rubbery skin…but that’s another subject

I had Blancmange at school dinners pre 1967.
I haven't missed it a bit.
Don't remember that stuff since primary school dinners.

What the hell is it made from?

Is it some hybrid between milk, gelatin, colouring and favouring?
