Last player we purchased for more than £250k was a certain Bobby Zamora - the sell on clause netting Bristol Rovers an additional £400k+ in addition to the initial £100k outlay - our most expensive signing ever.

£115.00 on Bisset
£105.00 on Codner

Yes, I'd forgotten those two. As I remember now didn't we break the non-league transfer record twice in the same day, first by buying Codner and then going back for Bissett ?

Seems hard to believe now. Can anyone confirm ?

Yep I'm sure that was the case. Nicky Bissett was a decent defender before his injury. Codner was half decent as well - remember his goal from the half way line at Plymouth???

I always thought that we bought Bissett and Codner for 115k each but a couple of days apart.

Nicky Bisset was a poor mans Virgo. Rember when we had to play him up front with Simon Funnel..... There have been darker days in our clubs history...

Andy Richie was 500K wasn't he? over 20 years ago!

He's still our record buy.

I do think we should consider inflation. Someone reckoned recently that the 900,000 we got for Mark Lawrenson was equivalent to 15mill in today's money.

How much was Jason Peake ?

Think it was actually 120K! Money which would have been better spent if I'd been given it in fifties and used it to wipe my arse.

............. Codner climbing the chicken wire in front of us away at Rotherham 93/94 on his first game back after certain issues arose that meant he had to miss a few game

climbing up the mesh and punching the air - away win

anyone would have thought he was on drugs or something

magnificent scenes

at the arse end of our time as a good team with a ground

a few names from there/ shortly before that make me smile

Beeney, Digweed, Crumplin, Gatting, McCarthy, Chapman, O'Riely, Bissett, Barham, Wilkins, Walker, Chivers, Codner, Nelson, Nogan, Gall and .....................(in particular) .................... Small & Byrne

start of the 90s

wonderful times

I'm far too jaded now

Happy days!!

I'm surprised no one has mentioned us selling Beeney for a million that saved the club. At the time I think it was our biggest sale

Nicky Bissett was a superb defender, a regular scorer from corners, and had the potential to play at a higher level, unfortunately Duncan Shearer severely f*cked his career up.
