Looking forward to Saturdays visit of Bolton, Got me thinking, when did we last meet them in the League?

I vaguely remember an early season encounter at the Goldstone which Albion won 3.1, but that must have been late eighties. I don't even remember any cup matches.

Have we had them in the cup over the last 20 years?

Almost - 2-1 defeat at Burnden Park 25 Jan 1992 in the Fourth Round.

I remember two games against them in the Goldstone glory days: a 2-1 defeat in 1977 and a 3-1 win in 1979. Think it was the first of those I found myself on the East Terrace with a few dozen Wanderers fans immediately behind. It was relatively good natured. Might not have been if they'd lost ...

We played them on 1st September 1979. A lovely sunny day and there was a minutes' silence as Lord Louis Mountbatten had been killed by the IRA that week. The Bolton fans interrupted the silence.

I must be getting old; I can remember that but can't remember yesterday :(

Here's some colour photos from the game, Brighton's first ever win in the top flight....

I expect they were dreaming of European football in the next six years, not the nearest club to Europe. (Unless Ipswich is nearer?)
