We went on a pretty good run after that and but for a Speroni save from Ashley Barnes would have taken the lead against Palace in the Play Offs second leg.

We did play well after Poyet had said, days before the Palace league game, that he wanted to leave, the sooner the better but that started events that led to the 2nd play-off semi, his comments after the match and months of 'quasi-legal' proceedings that meant a new manager was not in place until weeks before the season opener. OG has been playing catch up ever since, he has been shaping Poyets team all year, my worry is the lack of progress and what OG can do from now.

Nobody has mentioned the departure of Bridge (I don't think) made a huge impact last year and scored a few goals

I don't know about rot setting in, but the club does seem to have a long-standing tendency to rob strikers of their ability to score. We get a striker in, they maybe do alright for a litle while, but then inevitably it seems, the goals dry up. They get called Barn Door and Donkeys or such like, they leave us, and hey presto, they start scoring freely again. Sam Vokes being the lates example.
