There has been a power cut and all the street lights are off. In the middle of the road there is a black cat. A car is driving down the road with it's lights off, but still manages to see the cat and swerves to avoid it.

How did the driver see the cat?

It is day time

3 people each put £10 in to buy a radio for their work. After they had bought it the shopkeeper discovers that it should only have cost £25 so sent his assistant after them with £5. The assistant thinks that it would be difficult to split £5 between 3 people so gives them back £1 each and pockets £2. So each person has paid £9 for the radio. 3 X £9 = £27 and if you add the £2 that the assistant kept that comes to £29.

So where is the missing £1?

Its not missing.

£25 cost + £3 returned + £2 pocketed = £30

To clarify further, the wording of the sum is all wrong. They paid £27, not just for the radio, but for teh raido AND the £2 pocketed by the miscreant shop assistant. Which added to their £1 each change, equals £30.

Three prisoners are told to sit behind each other and face the front, they are told that they will be given one of two red hats and one blue one. If they can work out the colour of their hat they have to shout it out and the one who does will be released. If they shout out the wrong colour, or turn around to look they will be shot. the one in the middle works it out, shouts out his hat colour confidently and correctly and is released. How did he work it out? There is nothing else in the room at all except the three men and their hats.

( I hope to feck I've got this right, I'm doing it from memory )

Edit I have fecked this up because the third guy is obviously going to know

It only cost £25, not £30. £27 - £2 = £25

He's sat at the back, behind the other two.

It's not missing. The three chaps (3 x £9) have ended up paying £25 for the radio and £2 to the assistant

Was it this one?

It's down to perspective. To the purchasers they have spent £9 each but the Shopkeeper has only had £8.33 each from the buyers. The missing saucepan comes from this fact of what the price THEY paid and what the Shopkeeper actually received.

It's daytime.

Also it must take the small chap ages to walk up 35th floors, with his smaller legs and dwarve's lack of stamina. It would be better for him in the meantime just to wait for someone else to come along who wants to use the lift

That, or carry a small stepladder around with him?

Let's start again, there are actually 4 men, the first one is behind a wall and all four men know that there are two red and two blue hats. One of them can work out what colour his hat is, How?
