I'm sure that Sami would say that it's a nice problem to have
It does make me wonder though where CMS is going to fit in
We seem to have replaced all last season's loan players with speedier versions which can only be a good thing
Personally the spine of my team would be :

GK - Stockdale
DF - Greer, Dunk, Bennett
MF - Holla
AM - Teixeira
ST - Baldock

And fit the rest in where needed according to the game plan we have on any particular day
An embarrassment of riches . . .
As someone said earlier - we're going to have one hell of a bench !

The most apparent thing is how many of us (myself included) have left Ince out of the starting 11. Based on his performances over last couple of years, with many of us thinking he's gotta be worth £5 million + if not now then soon, that's pretty remarkable.

That's because Ince is not good enough to get in the starting 11 as it stands. Sami's preferred style is ball playing, technical players and Ince is not that...notwithstanding his superb goal!

I think that circa October, assuming all are fit, our first choice XI will be:

Stockdale
Bruno
Greer
Dunk
Bennett

Holla
Gardener

Teixeira
Stephens
Colunga

Baldock

Our starting XI on Saturday will probably be:

Stockdale
Bruno
Greer
Dunk
Bennett

Holla
Gardener

Colunga (sub: Lua Lua)
Crofts (sub: JFC)
Teixeira

CMS (sub: Baldock)

It is only right and fair that CMS is given the opportunity to keep Baldock out of the team as he has 2 in 4, which is what the club pays him for. Not sure without seeing them if Tex and Colunga will be right or left, but I expect that they will swap around. The tough call will be the fact that Bruno is not a good defender but creatively great...the rest are kind of straightforward.

Bang on the money.

May see a fit-again Stephens jostle with Gardner (yet unseen) for that midfield slot.

Personally I would go for
13 Goalkeeper David Stockdale England
30 Defender Joe Bennett (on loan from Aston Villa) England
2 Defender Bruno Spain
5 Defender Lewis Dunk England
3 Defender Gordon Greer (captain) Scotland

22 Midfielder Danny Holla Netherlands
24 Midfielder Rohan Ince England

27 Midfielder Solomon March England
7 Forward Adrián Colunga Spain
17 Midfielder João Carlos Teixeira (on loan from Liverpool) Portugal

12 Forward Craig Mackail-Smith Scotland

But then the really exciting thing for me is that I could name an entirely separate starting eleven with no overlap of the below, which I think would still be a decent championship side...

31 Goalkeeper Christian Walton England
4 Defender Aaron Hughes Northern Ireland
15 Defender Adam Chicksen England
21 Defender Vitālijs Maksimenko Latvia
14 Defender Iñigo Calderón (vice captain) Spain

8 Midfielder Andrew Crofts Wales
19 Midfielder Gary Gardner (on loan from Aston Villa) England

25 Midfielder Kazenga LuaLua Democratic Republic of the Congo
6 Midfielder Dale Stephens England
18 Midfielder Jake Forster-Caskey England

9 Forward Sam Baldock England

And we'd still have a bench of....

16 Goalkeeper Casper Ankergren Denmark
10 Midfielder Kemy Agustien Netherlands
20 Midfielder Paddy McCourt Northern Ireland
28 Midfielder Nzuzi Toko Democratic Republic of the Congo
11 Forward Chris O'Grady England
23 Forward Shamir Fenelon England

That weren't even used in either of the two teams. We've never had that sort of depth ever in my memory.

Sheer Pace = Sprint Speed (not Acceleration)

Sorry but I have to pick you up on this...lack of sheer pace? CMS is back to full speed; I bet the 2 CBs on Saturday wouldn't say he lacked pace as they looked in fear for their life's when he started running at them. Tex is swift as well, to the point it looks like he needs to slow down so the others can catch up with him.

I meant Buckley style pace. Colunga does not seem to have got it. Ince looks quite/very promising though. If CMS could trap the ball properly and did not stop falling over, I might be happy with him. And be better on his weaker foot and run more intelligently. I think he is too old to change now. Tex speed of thought adds a fraction of a second, but I was thinking of breakaway speed. Rohan Ince looks most likely.

Lualua is noted for his acceleration but he his print speed is not so bad.

Ince does but also have a watch of Dunk. He has very good speed, especially impressive for a 'big bloke' and can do it with the ball at his feet. The run from the back at Swindon for the set-up is a good example. This pace from the CBs is something we missed the last few years (if there is space ahead run!) you need to trust the LB / RB / DM to cover tho.

I am not sure what Baldock has in his legs so am looking forward to watch what he can do.

How are you so sure Colunga dosnt have any pace?
