Whats wrong with our midfiled?

Going back to the original question and based on what I saw on Saturday, the question should be what was wrong with our team?

We have some good players but at the weekend most seemed to be in a hurry to do something to get the ball forward and generally didn't employ much in the way of thought of how to do it very well.

Clearly they were being told to play in an up tempo manner and for much of the time they resorted to hoofing it long distances as quickly as possible. Anyone in the oppos half was looking to get the ball in their box at the first chance and there was very little sign of an 'stealth' being used.

Perhaps it would have made sense to slow the game down, retain possesion, have more movement, make Rovers run around lots and look for the opportunities as they arose. Instead we never retained the ball for more than about 10 seconds and it was the law of averages that meant the more we gave the ball away the more Rovers would get a foothold which is what duly happened.

A naturally creative midfield player would have helped but there were enough people on the pitch to have coped better than they did.

Let's hope they and the management learn how to do better in future.
