I agree, reckon he would be a good move.......He's not loyal but then again who is, we all thought Coppell wa sloyal but thats proved to be utter shite, so Cotterill is as good as any.

Cheltenham were hoofers and Stoke (when he was manager) were the worst team I saw down here last year. We might as well sell Leon to Reading if it's Cotterill whose taking over.

He can't string a sentence together.
He has a west country accent( unforgivable in football parlance)
His teams play terrible football.
Disloyal... shafted Stoke.

Please Dick, not Cotterill.

Cotteril is a horses-for-courses manger. When he was at Cheltenham he had a big team of beefy carthorses because that's what was needed. The early Adams team at Brighton was not totally dissimilar.

He'd be my 2nd choice after Dowie.

might be a good choice if your staring into the abyss of the third, long ball can keep you up by nicking victories here and there. But i cant think of any team (well apart form Wimbledon of the 80s) that has ever achieved anything other than mediocrity when hoofing the ball.

I'd be delighted if we were to get Steve Cotterill.

The job he did at Cheltenham was superb, and it seems to me the standard criticsm is that he produced a physical team playing kick and rush. 2 points.

1. A mate of mine is a Cheltenham fan and he always disputes this, saying they generally played good football under him. They could mix it where necessary and possibly resorted to a physical game against us as we were more skillful.

2. What exactly did he do wrong putting together that sort of team anyway? We bought plenty of big lumps to get us out of Div 3 under Adams, and it worked. It also worked at Cheltenham. Surely that just says he knows what it takes to succeed, doesn't suggest he will break up a skillful passing side if they are capable of getting them promoted from Div 2.

I vote Cotterill, as he looks to be the best young manager about. Facilities at Withdean won't be a shock as Cheltenham are nearly as bad, and he even has a Brighton connection, and a certain rapport with the fans. A no nonsense manager who will get the job done, AND has plenty of connections in the game to bring players in.
