Alexander is the only songwriter whose songs have been covered on studio albums by the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan.

One of my all time favourite performances from a great rock band, they really were this good live, as witnessed by me on a packed, sweaty (and pissed) night at the Top Rank Suite back in 1972.

I know, 75p FFS, I'd like to be able to say that was a fortune in 1972, but it wasn't, that was an absolute bargain to see a band as good as The Faces. It's funny how your memory fades over the years, but I really don't remember Byzantium playing at all, and all I remember about Nazareth was they were bloody loud but their sound system kept cutting out. After 3 failed attempts at their first song, Dan McCafferty shouted "F**k this", threw his hand mike down and they all walked off stage never to return!75p!
