Going to Islington Thursday morning. Need to leave at 8 to get there at 10. Is is ok to drive through London at that time, do I have to pay the toll and would I do it in 2 hours, 59 miles or is it a complete no no and should I get the train/tube.

Advice from anyone that knows would be apprieciated.

You'll have to pay the congestion charge, and NO, you won't do it in 2 hours (unless you start from Brixton).

Catch a train and save yourself some stress!

It would probably take an hour just to cross central London and another 20 minutes to find somewhere to park.

Train's the answer.

Take the car Gareth,

I'll tell you what - I'll give you odds of 2/5 that you'll be Islington by 10. And to be fair, those odds are VERY generous and I'm only doing it as a thankyou to you for all those marvellous tips that have earnt me a fortune over the past year.

I'll put you down for a tenner then.

What they all said!

When I was working in Croydon, if I left Shoreham at 8am, I'd do well to get to the office by 9.30...don't even think about trying it!

Keep everyone happy, drive to say Morden, Catch the tube in from there.

Take your bike for the trip from the tube station to your final destination

Do I win anything?

Seriously though, you'd be pushed to do Brighton to Islington in 2 hours at 1am, especially up the M/A23.

I have driven from Brighton at 6am and made it to central London by 7:30 before.

Central London itself isnt bad at all because of the Congestion charge but going through Croydon, Brixton and Streatham can be a nightmare from 7:30am onwards.

If you are going to drive leave at 6:30 LATEST. Youll get there an hour early if you do this but its worth it.

Really though you will save yourself alot of hassle by just getting the train.

Morden isn't a viable alternative as parking is also difficult there. If you're going to be late back the nearest car park closes at 6 p.m.

i shoot in islington about 4 nights a week, and drive.

takes about 3-3 and a half in the evening rush hour:

m23, m25, a3, battersea bridge, egdeware road, euston road.

i can get home in 1hr 12minutes at night :)

gareth, if you're going at that time i'd leave about 7 at the LATEST and don't take the bloody a23!!!!!
