Looking over from my office, I can see some kind of builing work going on begind the West goal. Could it be the seats have been smuggled through and they are going to surprise us or is it athletics related?

When I'm a bit less busy I may pop over and have a look.

It's probably the seats being returned now the British Open at Royal Troon is finished. Dick Knight said at the parade (and I'd heard a rumour of it before) that the South Stand goes off in the summer to form some of the seating at the golf

although they were supposed to be moving the changing rooms to that end at one point, although im pretty certain that was only when the new seats went in

If it was just the seats returning why would there be building work going on behind the west goal?

Albion Rob will have to go and have a look, we will wait with baited breath for his report

I quote:

In June 2000 the club won council approval for 960 extra seats, taking the capacity to 7,027, and restrictions on amplified music were eased. In 2002 approval was given for an increase in capacity to around 9,000 in the face of fierce opposition, but the scheme is dependent on the provision of a new 200-space park-and-ride site and not expected to be implemented until the summer of 2004.

But we haven't found anywhere yet.

Right, back now, probably not as exciting as we had hoped.

The scaffolding is upin between the pub and the sports centre. It looks like they are adding an extra level to that but BUT having walked around and inside Withdean (which was exciting) you can clearly see it from the pitch. Could it be a swish new directors box? A TV box for whoever presents football league games? Or maybe nothing to do with the football club whatsoever.

On another note, the seats are definitely not back and where the South Stand was is just grassy wasteland. The amount we have done to the place is unreal, the athletics team there must think it is their birthday.

And there was a coach full of schoolkids outside with a really fit blonde teacher. And that's that.

Although a potential park and ride site was identified, it went by the wayside several months ago, along with any chance of any new seats being installed this summer.
