I will hold my hand up, I voted Labour at the last election for the first and probably only time in my life, though my vote was based on the fact that our local MP was doing a good job and I thought he deserved another go. I think the problem we have is separating local and national politics, though I understand they are inextricably linked, the thought of any of the alternatives on offer when we had the last election was almost too bad to contemplate.

There should be more seperation of powers in this country. Division between national and local, I mean, I would be sorely tempted NOT to vote Labour if Bassam or (god forbid) Bodfish tried to stand as MP, as opposed to Dave Lepper who I think is a decent bloke unlike those two.

There should be some way to seperare this local personalities from national politics. I can't foresee how, admittedly, but it would be a positive innovation for the system.

Bwaaahahahahahaha.

You can't be serious!

She managed to halt the decline for a short while.
Sure, she made mistakes, but look at what we had before... and after.

The thing is, people no longer accept responsibility for their own actions. I don't know when it started, but I suspect is has to do with the rise of socialism in this country, along with the idea of free handouts. After all, if someone is going to give you something you haven't got, just because you haven't got it, eventually you will come to feel that you deserve that handout.
Socialism is fundamentally based on the idea that everyone is equal.
Don't make me laugh. look look, my sides are splitting.

Simple Fact

Tories won't give us Falmer and gave planning permission for the redevelopment of the Goldstone whilst in power at Hove Council.

It is the Woodingdean Tories on B&H council who have repeatedly spoken out against the stadium at Falmer.

Labour is the only party who has constantly backed the stadium both locally and nationally.

If there was a general election tomorrow - we would not get planning permission to build a new stadium ANYWHERE let alone Falmer and this is why the Albion and the Seagulls party are running in areas in Lewes where Tory & Lib Dem councillors are up for election. if you think that Cameron's lot would agree to us building a stadium then you are sadly deluded.

Is it that clear cut then?

I thought the Tories had been pragmatic and were (kinda) in favour.

Makes the council elections in May very worrying...I think Labour will lose control.

Due to immigrants becoming residents of the U.K. or obtain British citizenship I always call myself English. Every time you hear of terrorists being detained around the world they never seem to be called Smith or Jones always Abdul or Rahman. I do not wish to be associated with these people, but as I've said this identity has been taken away from us. Being a monarchy and having the Queen as the head of the Church of England, we are a christian country. My first name has always been my christian name, however to appease the other religions we now have to refer to it as a first or given name. This is my point about too much freedom, we've allowed everyone who comes here to not only live their own life but let them change ours.

1922 called, it wonders where you went. Strange that you've named yourself after a set of state-sponsored terrorists, with your attitude. Or not, possibly.

How were the BlacknTans state sponsored terrorists, I thought that they were sent over to Ireland to restore law and order please educate me.

"restore law and order" ??? They were sent here to scare the shite out of the civilian population to crush any support for Independence. Killing any rebels was a sideline, the majority of what they did was 'searching' houses, burning of houses, shooting at people, etc. There wasn't anything wrong with the actual rule of law and order amongst civilians to need "restoration".

Idiot boy: a "Black and Tan" is Guinness and Harp, nothing else. Not only are you using an outdated, Northern Irish name for it, you have the f***ing ingredients wrong.

This is a message board used and originated in England and I have been a publican for over 35 years and a Black & Tan is Guinness and Bitter long before Harp Lager was ever invented. In fact I had my first pub before there was any draught lager available in Britain.

Harp came into being approx 1968/69. The first draught lager was Tuborg although Carlsberg was sold in bottles. Draught Guinness came into being in Britain in about 1963 but before that peo[ple drunk Black & Tan being bottled guinness with bitter.

Obviously Irish History differs from English because your views of The Black & Tans which were so called by the colour of their uniforms, in that there was no law and order in Ireland and these people were sent to try to bring about Law & Order that is what I was brought up to believe.

MYOB this is Taken from the net:

In the United Kingdom, the correct way of preparing a Black and Tan is considered to be to pour half a pint of dark stout into a pint glass and then top up with draught bitter, so that both beers are thoroughly mixed together.

In the Republic of Ireland a Black and Tan is normally made from a half pint of Smithwick's topped off with Guinness. During the summer months, and some time for variety, stout drinkers may order a black and tan due to its lighter texture. Likewise ale drinkers may order a Smithwick's with a Guinness head. This is an ordinary pint of Smithwick's with the last inch or so topped off with Guinness.

In Australia, specifically New South Wales, a Black and Tan is made from half a schooner (425ml) of Tooheys New (a pale lager) and then topped up with Tooheys Old (a dark ale)

Obviously being 20 years old you know better than the experts.

I would add that Smithwicks is a light bitter

Typically refers to any variation of stout coupled with blueberry-flavored ales or brands with the name "Blue" in them. Be specific when ordering. Also known as an Eclipse in some bars.
Black & Sam
Guinness stout and Sam Adam's Boston Lager (also called a Patriot Pint or Boston Half & Half)
Black and Orange
Stout and pumpkin Ale (Also known in the Boston area as a "Black & Blumpkin", or a "Black-O-Blumpkin")
Black Sap
Stout and Sapporo
All Irish Black & Tan/Pint of Special
Guinness Stout and Smithwick's Irish Ale
Pint of Special
Similar to the all Irish Black and Tan served mostly in the west of Ireland. Made with more than 75% Smithwick's topped up with a Guinness head
Garnet and Black
A variation often found in Columbia, SC. Named after the school colors of the University of South Carolina, it features Killian's Irish Red and Guinness Stout.
Sweet Black and Tan
Sweetheart Stout and any light ale (e.g., 70 or 80 shilling)
Philadelphia Black & Tan
Half Guinness Stout and half Yuengling Lager

Agree. Black and tan in Britain is innocuous and just refers to a drink. Black and tan in Ireland :nono:

Thank you for accepting something so simple, unfortunately too many people think they are either clever or psychiatrists and have to look for hidden agendas

Immigration has caused the downfall of Blighty. What is the fugging point of having open European borders when it's all one-way traffic? How many tens of thousands of Brits are clammering to pack up and move to Poland in the same way that half of Eastern Europe is now living over here? Too many people in too small an island, at this rate in five years time a one bedroom flat in Brighton will cost circa 400k. Something has to give.
