Whatever has happened to fans loyalty and patience? especially Given todays reactions on here from a select few who call themselves fans calling for Slade to be sacked after just 4 games of the season, especially after pulling off a miracle escape last season.

It also amazed me today to see one so called 'fan' at todays' game who decided to stand behind the dugout and to give abuse to Dean White before the game had even started - wtf is that all about, how is that justifiable?

Wrong, it does matter...every single game matters...we are supposed to be in rebuilding mode, not imploding mode. The new Chairman wants Championship football in two seasons but we are going to lose yet another manager in the autumn, unless results pick up !

The team got a hefty and well-deserved  acknowledgement from those by the South Stand running track at the final whistle in appreciation of their never say die attitude. We could easily have nicked a point there.

Having said that, the final Southport goal was ****ish in the extreme. No matter how many players we had left on the pitch, boy should never have been able to waltz through the defence like that. Indefensible defending.

There were some boos, some calling for White, Booker and Slade to go so that is why i'm wondering why.

There were a lot who rightly appauded the teams efforts after the final whistle, and there have been quite a few encouraging signs things will turn around soon, so why this constant negativity from some?

Stockport had two goals that they should never have scored-nothing to do with refereeing but all to do with shit defending.

As for the never say die attitude-what a pity that we had to wait until 10 minutes from the end to see it. Slade said before the season started that we'd have the most honest, hard working team in this division. We're waiting Russell-I think it's starting to come together but some of the natives are getting restless.

It is unbelievable isn't it? I wonder how many managers we'd have had if we sacked one every time we went four league games without a win or after two bad defeats? But obviously ficklety, lack of patience and wanting immediate gratification regardless of circumstances are not just Brighton problems, the whole modern game is infected with it. Which in the long run is good news for us because if we were the only club that panicked and sacked the manager after four games without a win we would very soon get a reputation as a shit employer and no one decent would want to come to us - and if they did they'd jump ship the first time we had any success so that they'd escape the inevitable sack after four league games without a win

The earliest, the very very very earliest time we can sack yet another manager is December, and we'd have to be well mired in the relegation struggle for us to even contemplate it. Being bottom at the end of August is neither here nor there.

I applauded at the end from the South stand track, but I felt it was for Russell Slade. I just got the feeling that he will be uncomfortably joining Momma Cherri on Monday morning.

Please club and board, prove me wrong.

I think you might find it matters to the Slade etc. It is their job and they have families to support.

Quite honestly I am disgusted with some so called fans, both on here and at the ground. If they want success all the way I would suggest they are following the wrong team.

These kind of threads are just embarrassing. Not even worth making the case of patience because the brainless pot noodle fans don't want to hear it and have no perspective.

Brighton factually.....
I post exactly the same reply as the thread yesterday called "I cant belive some brighton fans or something like that"

As with most football fans of ALL clubs we have "delusions of grandeur" . I think we expect way too much of our, lets face facts mediocre team. We have no right to sign the best players or be automatically a contender for promotion just because we signed a few players. That we feel are going to set this division alight even though some have been deemed not good enough at there last team. These players have either droped down a division or jumped up from the blue square..! As with every season there either going to gel and its going to be the start of something special in the seasons to come or another season of misfits and doom mongering . WE ARE LIKE EVERY SET OF SUPPORTS WE ARE NO DIFFERENT "WE HAVE DELUSIONS OF GRANDEUR"

GOOD TIMES COME & GO FOR TEAMS LIKE US, AND I LOVE IT

AND I WILL SUPPORT THE ALBION THROUGH EVERYTHING.

Slades's record with us in this division is

Played 18

Won 6
Drawn 3
Lost 9

For 23
Against 32

Points 21

This is a record of bottom half bottom 12, about 18th. If you scrutinise his league record it is not fantastic to be honest and his only salvation is it is slightly better than Adams disasterous second time in charge. Certainly Slade's record in this division is infinately inferior to all the other managers who were in charge during the Withdean years, Wilkins, McGhee, Coppell, Taylor, Adams and he has had massively more money to spend which makes the achievements of the other managers show him up even more.

For this level of football Slade has spent hugely and this week we saw we had spent more on agents fees in the last year than any other club in this division. With that money invested we should be play off certainties.

Slade got the team on a roll at the end of last season and did well to keep us up make no mistake but the team should never have been where they were. The problem for Slade is that Bloom does not want him but was duty bound to give him the job after the fans took to him and he kept us up. Slade was on a good thing as people had written us off and in a way there was no pressure on him last season as no one would have blamed him if he went down.

Now the buck stops with him , its his team, his tactics, his players.

We have lost 1-0 to an average Walsall, battered 3-0 at Swansea who are struggling in their division, 7-1 at Huddersfield who lost their next match, lost 4-2 to Stockport who will be certainities for relegation all in 5 games.

So its hardly suprising that Bloom will be getting very restless.

Thats football, its a results business and Slade's results are poor.

I was trying to remember when I last had a similar experience at the start of season watching this clubs progress or regression. Then it came to me. I was standing in a muddy field behind a rope barrier and Albion had just been thumped 4-0 by Walton and Hersham in the FA Cup!
We had a new manager, he had just cleared out half the team and was still taking the club apart. We looked awful, couldn't beat an egg.
What an awful Manager. His name.. Brian Clough.
He left, but left his brain behind, Peter Taylor and slowly what was to become the Seagulls started to fly.
Patience, give the guy a chance!

I agree with your senitments, though I was asking the same question when we had McGhee and Adams to try and unpick why our fans lost the plot.

I don't like the manager bashing, but I'm going to contradict myself now by saying we've got what we deserved. Having exhausted the not so bottomless pit of managers we've ended up with someone who is finding his task professionally stretching and now sitting in the performance improvement category.

I don't buy the tales of end of season saviours being great managers. More often than not it's player psychology and a new face e.g. Steve Gritt. A chairman who won't listen to the fans wouldn't be a bad thing.
