England matches are notoriously dull. But even thhe dullest of football matches eclipses egg chasing.

How can you say that? It's the only major sport in which we now regularly beat the Australians, New Zealanders, South Africans and our European neighbours. The sight of all those defeated antipodeans trooping disconsolately from the field whilst the English players and fans celebrate is always extremely heart-warming.

I'll be watching neither. Mrs Gwylan thinks that a day at the cricket yesterday and at Withdean today is quite enough sport for the weekend. And, in truth, I agree with her.

I can't get worked up about Macedonia v England and when it comes to rugby I support Wales so I can't get worked up about that either.

I'll watch the World Cup though, even though I know that Wales are going to get battered.
