Have never been happy with him, even when he was playing. I think his lack of pace is far to costly at this level, and would much rather have El-Abd or even Reid at full back than him. It's so annoying having to pay his wages when we know damn well there's no chance of him making more than another 2-3 appearances this season. Hopefully he can help about with a bit of coaching as his experience could be a massive help to the young defenders.

I seem to recall when he signed, he said he was recovering from a long term injury and "couldn't wait to get playing again".

Us old bastards know it is very difficulty to recover from bad injuries the older you get ( hence my cricketing days are now over )

He doesn't strike me as the kind of lazy sponger who'd try that trick. He was hugely popular at Southampton because he was always such a wholehearted player, and left the club because he was chomping at the bit to play but just wasn't getting the opportunities any more.

I'm as irritated as everyone else that he's been kept out so far because of injuries, but there's no way he's "putting it on".
