But it could affect the players and put them under increasing pressure and therefore more likely to fail if you have topics like "is Calderon living up to his potential" or "Why didn't Murray start" what effect do you think the second one would have on the 2 that did play? don't you think that Murray won't be able to play every game and Gus was trying to give him a bit of a break to keep him fresh and at the top form for longer

I believe that most players would be spurned on by that, and want to prove that they can play better. If I was Barnes/Wood etc, i'd be even more geared up to prove the fans wrong that doubted my ability. And anyway, I don't think it was as extreme as you made out, no-one has said that they aren't deserving of a place, just that they felt Murray had more to offer, which is just their opinion at the end of the day. How boring would this forum be if every thread was "We're top of the league, bravo lads" etc...
