What is the biggest crowd you've been part of at an Albion home game?

With all this marvellous CHATTER of the sextastic Amex holding 30,750 people, it got me thinking that well over 90% of Albion fans have probably never been part of an Albion home gate approaching that figure.

So what is the biggest home gate you've been part of? I think I'm right in saying we haven't seen a home gate of over 30,000 since 1979. Since then, we had a few around the 27,000 mark in 1979 and since dropping out of the top flight:

1983 6th round FA Cup v Norwich: 28,800
1988 4th round FA Cup v Arsenal: 26,467
1985 6th round FA Cup v Southampton: 25,800

I think these are the only gates higher than than the current Amex capacity. The Peterborough cup replay in 1985 pulled in 20,000 and the Bristol Rovers home game in 1988 had 19,800.

So what is the highest Albion home gate you've been in? For me, it's the 26,467 in 1988.

Boxing Day 1958 which is shown as our record but I still maintain there was more present at the DivIII South winning game vs Watford but the record books says not.

Albion v Sheffield Wednesday 1976/77. I think we won 3-2 and were promoted that night, Over 30,000 but can't recall the exact number.

About 34k against Charlton on a Bank Holiday Monday in the late seventies I think. The Goldstone was jammed - the East Terrace looked a spectacular sight from the South Stand!

What was the attendance in the home play-off match against Millwall in 91? Anyone got an idea?

The biggest crowd I was part of (that I can remember! ) was at the Goldstone in 92 - the 5-0 win over Crawley. About 18,000 I think.
Didn't beat that until this year when I went to the game against Forest

I have been part of 5 over 30,000 crowds at the Goldstone:

31,423 April 26th 1965 v Darlington (we won promotion and the old Div 4 title)
35,000 February 18th 1967 v Chelsea in the 4th Round of the FA cup
34,766 3rd May 1972 v Rochdale (1-1 draw to secure promotion from the old Div 3)
30,756 3rd May 1977 v Sheffield Wednesday (3-2 victory to secure promotion from the old Div 3)
33,431 29th April 1978 v Blackpool (2-1 win but missed out on promotion on goal difference)

No need to get a ticket in advance in those days - you just turned up at the turnstile and handed over the cash.

As far as I can recall we never achieved a 30,000 gate during our Div 1 stay.

bha v millwall was 15,390???
My big game rochdale at home 72 crowd 34,766:mad: and a few thousand locked out that night:down:

Blimey is that all? I remember it feeling like it was so packed at the time, then again I was only 10.
Biggest crowd for me then would probably have been one of the cup matches in the early 90s against Crawley or Portsmouth. Or it might even have been last week against Wrexham, my first Amex game. All around 18,000 or so.

Not so for the Chelsea game, tickets went on sale at a reserve match - must have been the biggest attendance the Lambs ever got
