What I saw today was a team finding it's feet without enough pre season to have gelled. On the upside I believe that this is going to be the best footballing side that we have had since we were in the old 1st Division (Premiership) and the moaning that has started at Withdean already is f***ing frustrating to listen to.

To all you doom mongers who are already writing us off- Just remember how long it took the Championship side from Div 3 to gel and the appalling results for the 1st 6 or so games before they did. We then won the league at a canter.

We are not going to be anywhere near the top of the table but I firmly believe we are going to avoid the drop with something to spare........and do it playing football that is worth paying to watch rather than relying on packed defence followed by a hoof upfield.

And players just coming into the side like Carole will be match fit and able to last for 90 mins

How many points did we get in the equivalent games last year. 0. So we are two points better off already. Think positive!!

Well actually after 3 games last season we had 1 point ! (Home to Coventry) but I'm not being picky I am very encouraged by the style of football we have been playing, I just thimk McGhee does not yet know what his best team is.

I think we will suprise quite a few teams with our brand of football especially away from home.

The equivalent games Derby away and Crewe at home last year were
3-0 to Derby now turned around to 1-1
3-1 to Crewe now turned around to 2-2

I meant that we got no points off the equivalant games against those three teams. I should have explained myself better.

And for me, you've hit the nail on the head there. He changed it at a point where we were so on top, a second goal looked inevitable, and the rythym went out of our play.

I think he will be a lot closer to knowing his best team after yesterday. I confess to being very frustrated with yesterday's result, because we should have 4 points on the board now, and 10 minutes of madness cost us....

you obviously didnt read any of my post or actually watch the game did you...

chelsea lost 1-0 to man city last year. does that mean chelsea are worse than man city. hmmmmm

we DOMINATED that first half and played some lovely stuff. we have a young exciting team so think before you comment.

firstly, you need to chill a bit son. secondly, it doesnt matter how we play. what matters is the results. you CANNOT argue that giving away the lead at home agaisnt Crewe is anything less than dissapointing. it is these kind of games that will count come May 2006.

now, a postive perfromance might bode well for future games but 3 very winnable points have been lost (well, 2).

furthermore, do not EVER compare us with Chelsea. its as ridiculous as saying 'norwich played some lovely football last year but didnt get the results'. the point is we MUST pick up points.

The truth is we must beat teams like this whether its the last game of the season or the third game. We only play Crewe at home once and we should have been looking at three points.

Not sure why a lot of people are going overboard about how much possession we had, quite clearly a lot of that was down to Crewe's tactics. They sat back in the same way we do when we are away from home meaning we had a lot of the ball without really creating anything.

Also, people who are saying we were brilliant, isnt a MASSIVE part of football creating chances and taking them? How brilliant can a team be when it has that much of the ball without really threatening?

Oatway and Chippie were lost again although of the two Oatway was considerably better. Hammond simply HAS to be moved into the middle for the Hull game.

Knight played well and looks like he and Carole could link up well and McShane and Butters were solid again. Reid played well and Dodd looked a bit more comfortable but a player of his experience should not be risking a needless booking by mocking the linesman.

Our football is all very pretty but the 5 yaurd triangles are often out undoing because as soon as we lose the ball all the other team has to do is look up and switch the play and three of our midfield are out of the game bunched together on the touchline.

McGhee got the subs wrong and his negative tactics of one up front at HOME against a RUBBISH team was part of our downfall because it meant we never killed the game off when we were on top.

I am normally an optimist but unless McGhee shakes things up and/or gets a decent central midfielder in then we are going down.

Brighton fans are too often guilty of seeing things through blue and white tinted glasses. The two teams playing yesterday were ridiculously poor and I would not be surprised if we both go down.

Went to a different game myself, quite enjoyed it apart from the result. Sounds like you went to a game where you felt like stabbing yourself afterwards ???
