I've said it before and I'll say it again! I'll go if it is arranged.
Fatboy just sort it out!
We have several definites I reckon....
Fatboy
Me
Papa
Gary Nelson
Mark Owen
JMC?
Beefy?
MORPHBHA
And I'm sure we could rummage up a few others regularly. Anyone else I've missed out who fancies a game (you don't have to commit to every Tuesday) add your name to the thread.
If there is an overwhelming show of support then Fatters will have to get off his arse and book it up! Come on guys you know it makes sense!!!
I am just not getting involved in arranging it as I fell out big time with the owner ( who happens to be a fellow Governor of my local school) when people said they were coming and then we had to cancell when no-one turned up!!!!
I will come on a blue moon basis ...... it does not take that much arranging - just to be there, and cancel the booking where it clashes with the Albion etc.
Plus a weekly post here, something along the lines of:
Portslade Sports Centre, Chalky Road. 9-10pm outside on the floodlit astroturf. Friendly competitive game. Just turn up. We pick sides (stripes v rest or we have bibs) and play. Nice surface, decent sized pitch, good company. Usually £2 or £3 depending on numbers.
Bar in the Sports Centre.
If someone makes the arrangements people will come ....
I reckon we can get 10 most weeks at least then. When Fatboy gets his student arse out of bed hopefully he will ring up and book it for this coming Tuesday.
Just got off the phone to them, and it's not good news.
Next Week
The only slots they can offer us is:
Outdoors:
Tuesday 5-6pm
Thursday 7:30 - 9pm (or 7:30 to 8:30 or 8:00 to 9:00)
Indoors:
Tuesday 9pm - 10pm
Going forward
I told him that we are the same chaps who had the 9pm on Tuesday slot and he said that he might be able to sort us out a late indoor slot on Tuesday, but it would be from 9:30pm, which is getting a little too late.
As far as outdoor goes, there are no late slots left unless someone pulls out at short notice.
Therefore, what everyones feelings on this?
Are the other astroturf pitches we could try - there's always the ones at Durrington, which I know is a distance from Portslade, but many people made the reverse journey when we were playing over in East Sussex.
