He needs to figure out for himself how HE can fit into a position and link up to score goals.
All this idea about getting him a strike partner is well off the mark. Since when do we pander to professional strikers to try and accomodate their failures to make the grade for themselves?

It's a team game so we need to play to our team's strengths. That's why we give dead ball responsibility to our dead ball specialists, why Navarro is charged with distributing the ball out of defence and not asked to play more aggressively and why CMS needs the service most likely to result in goals for his team.

With Buckley, Noone, and Vicente - I'd say we have some of the best "service" providers in the league!
CMS is a professional, and a very apparently mobile one. I find it very odd that he is so mobile yet doesn't invite or capitolise on 'the killer pass'.
If you ask me, this concept that he's not getting the proper delivery of a football is a bit of a reach outside of reality. He is going to have to find the position that works for the players around him (especially when we might have all of the above named on the field!). He's a professional striker - those sort should be the trickiest, the wriggling-est, the nippiest, and the most predatory.

I believe he needs to play alongside his partners in a way that is more accommodating for giving and going - NOT just with a view to collecting a miracle pass that makes his job simpler.

Someone else to play up front with him. He needs someone to feed off. Someone who is bigger and stronger then some of the other players on the team.

To improve and progress next season, what's it to be?

If he is going to stay with us which i think would be a bad move both for him and us he needs to stop running around like a rabbit in the headlights and start playing football the Gus way, using his brain and skills

Time.

Sometimes CMS is making the correct runs and the balls aren't coming, sometimes the chances arrive and hes not there. Give it time.

A quality link up partner (Murray, Roberts, Heskey), and a much better first touch.

It's the midfield that needs sorting, but Gus just needs to put more faith in our current wingers, retain Vicente, and get a unit in...
