Mine was used as a get away car. Shame it was a clapped out Escort (despite the spoiler) which could be overtaken by a milkfloat going uphill, and not the Cosworth they may have thought they had nicked.

Trackers - I know people with high end cars, and others with valuable commercial trucks, who found the system worked well. Recovery of vehicles very quickly, undamaged, and arrests still in the vehicles or nearby.

Aren't the nice cars stolen, never to be seen again, generally those without a tracker? Some people with money, are too tight or too relaxed to bother with paying for tracking?

Due to the high density steel used in shipping containers that these cars are shipped in the majority of tracking signals are blocked.

I suspect HMRC are more interested in what's coming in from West Africa.

In the early 90's I used to do vehicle deliveries for a transport firm on my days off from my main job. One job entailed six of us picking up a fleet of geriatric Bedford trucks from the Midlands and taking them down to Southampton Docks to be delivered eventually to the Malawi National Guard. These vehicles were little more than scrap in this country, but they had been refurbished (of sorts) and painted in camouflage green. The rear had even been modified so there was a platform with turret where the rear gunner could sit!

Two vehicles broke down en route to Southampton. Mine was chucking out oil plus my headlights blew along the A27. I tailgated another vehicle all the way to the docks, then quickly scarpered.

There's always been a lucrative market in flogging vehicles to the Third World. Those vehicles don't have to be high end always either.

Yes, I saw that from a previous post.

But many many hours pass between the car or truck getting stolen (and so activating the tracker to the security co and Police, giving a precise and moving target), until they possibly enter a shipping container.

That's just what they told BG. What actually happened, is they paid by cheque, didn't re-register the car, and used it on job.

They paid cash and filled the reg docs out as sold to a dealer. What actually happened to and if they made money it is no longer my concern

If that was the case I woukd obviously tell' old bill' anything I knew like phone numbers e mail etc of the buyer as indeed could e bay.
