What did the official Albion website look like before the 'premium tv' format?

Would love to see a screenshot of the website from back in 97/98 days.

Also, has it always had the www.seagulls.co.uk url?

Try archive.org. Can't access it at work but you might have more luck.

Marvellous scenes! My spelling hasn't got much better since then :lolol:

Albion 7-1 Chester

You wait 900 minutes for an away goal and then 7 come along all at once!. Chester must feel their time in professional league football must be coming to an end.

Chester even started the better of the two sides, winning numerous corners in the opening minutes, but it was Albion who had the first real attempt on goal. Andy Crosby, against his old team, came close with a header which was cleared by the Chester defence including former Albion left back Gary Hobson.

Albion took the lead on 19 minutes from on loan striker Zamora. Walton fired a long ball forwards to Hart which was flicked on to Freeman who found Zamora who fired home with a low shot at the near post.

Chester's heads went down and Albion scored again shortly afterwards. Again it was Zamora. A quick short corner between Aspinall and Watson resulted in a pinpoint cross by Aspinall to the far post for Zamora to head in.

Zamora almost got his hat-trick before half time when he had his shot blocked after a good cross from Brooker, and McPherson's follow up was also blocked for a corner. From the resulting corner Hart's header should have been on target from only 3 yards out!

Chester really didn't look like scoring in the first half and their best chances where from long range. Aisleson shooting well wide from 20 yards out.

Albion came out after the break and it didn't take us long to find another goal. This time from a less than likely source. Keith McPherson, who was only playing due to Danny Cullip's injury, had not scored for Albion up to this point. He rose well to nod in Aspinall's corner on 48 minutes.

McPherson was not the only Albion player to record their first goal for the Seagulls. On-loan winger Paul Brooker scored on 52 minutes from an acute angle and he came close to scoring again later on in the game when his shot come back from the inside of the post, again from a tight angle.

Bobby Zamora got his hat-trick on 54 minutes from the spot. Hart was clear through and was brought down by Chester keeper Brown who was lucky not to be red carded. After the ref had reached for his yellow card Zamora stepped up and side footed his penalty under the dive of keeper Brown to make the score 5-0.

Chester's best chance in the second half was again from long range. This time Porter shooting wide from 25 yards.

Freeman grabbed Albions sixth goal on 67 minutes after having a very quiet game. Maybe Hobson who was man marking Freeman was doing his job well. Brooker crossed in for Freeman to shot against the post and in off the keeper.

You could not help but feel a bit sorry for Chester, many of the fans had already left with over 25 minutes still to go!. Albion fan chants included "We going to score every minute!" and "It's just like watching Brazil".

Chester did manage a goal. Prolific striker Luck Beckett found the net after some suspect defending by the Albion . He volleyed the ball through Walton's legs from around 10 yards out to make the score 6-1.

Adams made a few changes near the end, striker Zamora was taken off for youngster Ramsey and Aspinall was pulled off for Rogers. Rogers did his usual invisible man impression until the ball broke to him after a corner was cleared and from around 30 yards out he planted the ball low and hard into the bottom corner of the Chester goal. This was by far the best goal of the bunch.

It was not exactly Albion best performance of the season but their highest scoring. I don't think many Albion fans want to see Chester go down but it is looking inevitable. And as for us, well the optimistic amongst us will say we're only 10 points of the playoffs with 13 games to go. But realistically we should be building for next season and maybe Adams won't have to go and look for the elusive goal scorer. But will Zamora stay, or will we be able to afford him? Lets hope so!!

Micky Adams said: "It would be nice to wake up tomorrow morning a winner, but it is a shame that those seven goals were not shared out in the nine games we failed to win.".

No, but that's not a bad effort. Not so sure about Sussex by the sea over the top however, it doesn't really work with dial up (yes, living in the dinosaur age etc!)

It's not often I agree with MYOB, but he's right on the button with this one.

You designed this using FrontPage didn't you.? :tosser:

The site doesn't work correctly with Opera and won't even validate against the W3C HTML or CSS validator.

Once you've learned how do to cross-browser design, get back to us and we'll let you know.

DreamWeaver, according to the generator ID

which means he obviously DISABLED its ability to make proper code, because DreamWeaver doesn't usually let you make such an extreme bollox of stuff.

None the less, your website is still bollocks.

It works fine with Flock and Firefox.

Though NSC doesn't work well with Flock as peoples sigs aren't centered.

Working fine with Firefox means shit, it may be a good browser but it renders a lot of code that should barely work. It doesn't work right in Safari (KHTML) and its not working right in Opera (Presto). Just because Gecko (both Firefox and Flock use this) supports it doesn't mean its cross-browser compatible code. Or valid code, which its not.

What makes it worse, btw, is that Presto is the rendering engine that f***ing Dreamweaver uses itself, so clearly he's managed to break it only on -new- Presto. Thats an acheivement.
