SO WHERE DOES THAT CHICKEN WHO LAYS THE EGG COME FROM? PERHAPS ITS PARENT INCUBATED IT IN A BOX?

I think it must have been the egg, after all the chicken must have hatched from something. I suppose the important thing is to consider what laid it, the chicken must have evolved from another animal and that from something else, so the parents of the first chicken may not even have been totally chicken themselves but their egg hatched and became one, created by a mixture of their genes.

Therefore the egg came first. QED.

The egg came before the chicken, it was another creature that when it reproduced underwent a slight evolutionary mutation to create the chicken. and then :drink:

Chicken but you must be very bored.

Just like with the mice in the Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, we don't understand what the hell is going on in this world.

The truth is that the highest form of life is, in fact, the egg. Chickens are merely a phase that the egg uses as part of its reproductive cycle. But inside that shell is where the real action is. Great philosophy, art, science and poetry is going on inside those eggs. And amazing forms of telepathic communication, far beyond the capability of man. The incredible thing is the way the egg prevents the chicken (and, indeed, other walking, talking, squawking creatures) from ever discovering the complexities of its mind.

Only cheese is more intelligent.

The thing that created the egg was similar but not quite a chicken, the egg was an evolved version of the creature that layed it which became what we know today as a chicken!
