To be fair they have a very big fan base all over the country, not just in Leeds. This is the reason that they always take, and sell, their full away allocation at the Amex, even though it's usually a weekday evening match.

agreed. big turn out at Amex, well behaved bunch, and in good voice last 2 matches despite us winning both matches. (expect a lot of Londoners go mind)

I must applaud Sky on this one, the Doncaster v Leeds game has the feeling that an upset could occur and clearly the cameras need to be there to record this fact, if Leeds do achieve this and progress to the second round.

I'd imagine some would say the same when we announce a Sky game - we do seem to have more than our fair share. Not that I'm complaining you understand!

They're not even the biggest team in Yorkshire now.
Of course they are, and it's not particularly close. Hull averaged lower than them in the Premier League last season, and Sheff Weds :lolol: averaged 3,000 fewer.

You can also add the fact that Leeds apparently have the 4th largest number of affiliated fan members and all over the country, which is probably why Sky keep broadcasting their games. On a cold fairly meaningless Tuesday night at Plymouth, Leeds would still take 1,500 or so. No other Yorkshire club would do that.

Leeds are, by miles, the club with the biggest fan base in the championship, they'll always get alloy of TV coverage, stop bleating about it.

All those Leeds fans on holiday abroad in August are going to love an excuse for some pub tv football.

We have had a bigger average attendance than them now for last three seasons although the gap is narrowing.
Last year 25,644 compared to their 24,051.
Leeds were the 4th biggest attended club in the Champ last season.

If thats a Burnley reference then their average attendance last season was 19K.

They were doing well in the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE not that long ago. Anyone suggesting we're a bigger club is a FOOL.

They probably had 24 051 actual bottoms on seats whereas our 25, 644 includes all those thousands that don't turn up.

Champions league football has no bearings on the size of a club as it's just a cup game and nothing else...Big clubs have a big fan base and big crowds, rather simple really.

Percentage of total fan base attending home games is probably significantly higher for us than for someone like Leeds.

Or do fans only count if they actually turn up and watch meaning our total fan base was only c5 to 6k when we were at Withdean?
