This time last year we were all talking about players that we needed but that we couldn't afford to buy. This year it's all about players that we have but we can't afford to lose.
OK so we're in a lower division but, as feel-good factors go, I'd rather be in our current position. It feels better to be in posession of something that others want rather than be like urchins looking through the shop window at all the things we can't afford.
Maybe it will all end up the same way - with us having nothing (except a lot more money that will never see the light of day again in the transfer market), but I think I'll enjoy this season more. Especially if we get to play Leeds again next season.
