So is this i360 actually happening then? It looks fooking huge, also any chance you’ll be able to see Falmer from where it’s positioned?

i saw some plans the other day dated from around 2000 of a replacement for the west pier that looked quite frankly BIZARRE

it was a SORT OF pier, that floated on the surface (chained to the sea bed) and went up and down with the tides......it had an observation tower at the land end and cable cars going over the top

has anyone else seen these plans?

edit- this MIGHT be it, although its a different picture to the one i saw

I would like to lift one or two West Pier pictures off that Telegraph site. Can anyone tell me how?

You could do a Ctrl+Prnt Scrn and then crop the image.

There are some decent images here...

and here...

Thanks for the other pictures. My wife loves the pier and wants to print some pictures off so she can paint the scene in watercolours.

Cant get your instructions to work. Hit ctrl+print screen, but my curser doesn't become active over the required picture.

Just Ctrl+prnt scrn and then cut and paste it into paint.

Let me know which ones you want and I'll do it and email them to you.

If the current structure can be saved, I think they should turn it into an Eden Project type attraction. A MASSIVE greenhouse on the sea and access it by boat.

I hope that’s a serious suggestion because it would be brilliant, if a little ambitious.

That's so sad.

It should have never been left to rot like that.

& There should have been a major police investigation to catch these arsonists.

i dunno who it was what DUN IT

but it definitely isn't ANYONE connected to the structure pictured below

definitely not

the west pier at the moment looks AMAZING. best artistic structure in the country in my opinion. when the winter sun sets behind it, the scene is incredible. i hope it can be preserved.

i360 would probably look ok in a city where everything is high rise, but it's gonna stand out like a sore thumb on that coastline and look a bit ridiculous in my view

its a decent idea but just scale it down a bit

It's not that big. It's already been built too, just needs putting in position.

Is it just me or does that just look like a massive eyesore?

its you, it looks f***ing spectacular. in a city with two piers and an Indian design pavilion, there is no place for accusations of "eye sores" unless you would rather they go, along with the regency buildings and everything else that contributes to the history.
