Poor, harassed old Arsene Wenger evidently feels his "human rights" are being breached in the same way as Campbell does....

"Sol has a big point. Why should we not be respected just because we are on the pitch? I agree completely with him. Most of it is abusive but why do people get away with it? It is because they are in with a mass of people. They are entitled to an opinion, they can say to the manager 'you are useless' but they cannot say 'you are a f***ing bastard'".

Hmmm, respect, Arsene? It works both ways....

This is all a total joke, until players respect officials no-one is interested in their "alleged" human rights.

The annoying thing is, I can see this turning into some kind of media-fuelled campaign.

There are far more important issues that are seriously impacting the game in this country: extortionate ticket prices, falling crowd levels at many clubs outside the top four in the Premier League, the general mediocrity of the England team, the perception of Premier League players as arrogant, overpaid twats, cheating, diving, corruption, dodgy agents etc etc, yet the one thing the tabloid press seem to jump onboard with is this, the so-called unjustified abuse of players??

If Campbell, Wenger, and Harry Redknapp (another less-than-squeaky-clean individual who thinks the world owes him an apology) wish to play in some kind of sanitised, abuse-free environment, I suggest they take up golf.

(not on the PGA Tour, mind, all those nasty Americans shouting "get in the hole" would have Sol's stress levels through the roof)

Perhaps all fans should be gagged on arrival.

That is what I'll shout if Sol is ever on the pitch :laugh:

Quite rightly it appears they are starting a media campaign which is totally missing the point as the issues are else where with what is all wrong with football at present.

Other solutions to help poor Sol and his violated rights:

-issue him and other sensitive players with ear muffs so they can't pick up the nasty voices in the crowd
-play all Pompey's games behind closed doors
-play soothing Pan Pipe music over the tannoy during games to drown out supporters
-ensure all teams have qualified sports psychologists on the bench, to iron out any matchtime self-doubt issues

All these chav millionaires have aliemated themselves completely from the mugs that pay their wages. They probably think that the Premiership clubs and SKY TV pay them for their God-like skills. Poor deluded muppets.

And Wenger, for a man who never ever sees anything contentious that happens on the pitch, appears to have an acute sense of hearing.

out of interest, how often do you actually hear seriously vicious abuse aimed at footballers during games? aside from the odd racist comment said by an individual who invariably gets shot down by people around him, most of it is the sort of banter you get at every football ground in the country.

perhaps if players like sol actually came out openly and honestly, the stigma of gay footballers would disappear a bit...

anyway, it's great fun getting efe sodje to send himself off by shouting 'tea towel' at him for nearly ninety minutes :D
