Bollocks. She has never said that.

(Although if you want to be pedantic - in my dictionary "support" means - "to speak in favour of; to give aid or courage to; to give approval to; to endure with forbearance; to give strength to...")

When we are away we are not expected to win and a draw is usually considered a good result 19 times out of 20.

When we are at home the onus is on us to win, there is more pressure to get a result. Mistakes with selection and substitution have more impact, and the fact that we fade in the second half makes everyone very wary.

Therefore, the atmosphere will be more strained. Throw in a crap stadium and some wet weather and its not surprising people aren't singing and dancing.

I speak as one of those supporters who is very vocal on the road but critical at home.

I suggest that somebody from NSC has a clip board and that we must go up and get permission before shouting out or starting any singing at any futures matches. Perhaps somebody could pass round a comical script and we will know when we are allowed to join in!

Perhaps the games should be played in virtual reality or a different planet as that is where most people on this board live.

The majority of Brighton fans DO NOT read NSC, do not read the mailing list. People think this board runs the club, effects how the players feel, that makes me laugh.

According to jumped up people like Yorkie ets then some of us are not proper fans? What right do you have to say that? I booed McGhee on Saturday because he got it wrong, he had options in Jarrett, Molango and Robinson but he decided not to use them. Still i am a bad bad fan.

Perhaps i should ask for a refund on the 3 year season ticket i got at the start of the season, take back my donation to the alive and kicking fund, take back all the merchanise that i have bought over the years, erase the fact that i have been to about 1,200 Albion games. I will delete refernces to going to Mellor to visit Archer, i will remove any reference to demonstrations against the old board. Its just not good enough, i have not posted more than a 1,000 messages on NSC (sadly shake my head in shame)

I THERE ANNOUNCE NSC USERS AS THE ONLY REAL TRUE BRIGHTONS FANS.

Perhaps you can stand at the turnstiles at the next home game and anyone without a NSC user name will be asked to go home as they are NOT real fans

Goodbye

As far as I can see:

1) There is clearly a problem with Withdean - the only singing (generally) comes from the singing section. If things are going well then other sections might join in with a seagulls or two. Once you get to F or E block you can hardly hear the singing. Partly this is a problem with seating, partly a problem with the lack of roof. At the Goldstone there was the North Stand making enough noise and the roof would throw it into the rest of the ground. The North East terrace and the terraces in fron of the West Stand would also pipe up occasionally, and you could even hear the South Stand squeaking away pre-pubescently sometimes.

2) There are, and always have been, whingers at Brighton. They were (generally) in the West Stand at the Goldstone, they are spread around at Withdean. I don't know if we have more than most clubs or not., I suspect not.

3) The moaners who make themselves heard have every right to moan (subject to it being foul and abusive etc.). It depresses me, and it can't be good for the players to hear it, but hey, it's a free world and they're professionals and should get on with the job. The best answer in my opinion, is to be heard yourself with some positive comments. I did call Leon a "stupid boy" in a Dad's Army style voice though when he klicked the ball away - couldn't help myself!

Of course I'd love everyone to get behind the team even when losing - I thought that the singing section were great on Saturday, but I could ony just hear them and I was in block F by the camera gantry.

`my mate is an Ipswich fan and in the program for the last home game, there was an article by someone who suggested that every single home team are facing the same problem, that the demographics of the football watching population has so changed that people at "home" games tend to be the sit and watch brigade, whereas the people who go away are the "die hard get behind the team come what may" type of fan

It appears we are not alone in having this...in fact if you recall games like Wednesday away, Watford etc etc, those places were as quiet as libraries.

BTW We thought the derby fans were noisy by us, but trev my Derby mate sat further down that stand couldn't hear them at all

You know what? Sometimes I'm just so goddam tired.

Tired of battling to get Falmer. Tired of knowing that we have no money to buy players. Tired of getting thumped by teams who have their own nice new stadium. Tired of fundraising. Tired of hearing that some of the few players we have are injured. Tired of getting cold and rained on in a lego stadium.

Sometimes it's just hard to stay chirpy.

:(

I echo this statement. ALL fans moan. But very few fans have had to deal with what we have had to. I think sometimes it would be nice for the manager and players to recognise this too!!

Recognising what we've been through won't change anything. The ONLY person who knows what it was like is Kerry Mayo. All the other players have come in post-Goldstone, post-Gillingham and many have come and gone post-3rd division championship.

Understanding the long-term hardship of the club and fans won't give McGhee any extra strikers, won't give us Falmer, and won't bring back the Goldstone with the terracing, North Stand and the atmosphere created there.

What do you want the manager/players to say, exactly? "We're sorry that something happened before we were here, and will still be happening after some of us have left"? What's the point? This has been going on for over 10 years now. People are entitled to be tired of fighting for the right to have a nice day out at the football. Excuses such as 'it's Withdean' wear thin after 2 championships and another promotion. It was fine then. The problem comes from watching a team play so inconsistantly and knowing there's very little that can be done. There aren't other players to bring on/in, we can't have a roof/terracing/more seats/cheaper tickets. The only way to vent is at the players we do have.

how about trying to get the singing section moved to D/E block so the players can hear us and we can have a bit of banter with the away fans???

Totally agree mate, Been saying that for years myself. Its so stupid being in H block. If singing section were in D or E block, the more blocks each side would join in. Its almost as though the Club doesn't want an atmosphere. As soon as you stand up for 5 mins and get a bit of atmos going, some bouncer twat tells you to sit down and ruins it.

Singing Section in the Centre of the South Stand Please!!!!!!!!

I guess the reasons for doing it our two fold. The first being that by putting it there, you create the problem of more people standing, as the middle block gets up to sing, those sitting in the outer blocks have to follow, as they cannot see and the club have already had a bollocking over people standing up too much.

The other reason is it will mean moving people who have been season ticket holders in these middle blocks since day one, into crappy seats in the wings. Why should they move?

becasue otherwise Withdean will continue to be a boring library style quiet morgue.

The players have f*** all motivation to get going at home.

then look at us away - f***ing awsome!!

it is not a coincedence!!

But you are potentially alienating the lifeblood of the club financially which are the season ticket holders and the majority of these sit in Blocks C, D, E, F and G by making some of them move to seats with a worse view in blocks H and J.

Its those people that are the main problem behind the dugout. Its tough, the club makes it a singing section and all those that want to stay can and all those that don't can move. Its the only way to improve Withdean. We are never getting the extra 2000 seats or a roof, so thats the only improvement to atmosphere you can make. It would be brilliant.

I think you will find that most of us in H&J blocks are season ticket holders, and have been for a long time.

I for one settled in H block because it is the singing section, and I now see and have a good laugh with the other fans around me.

Infact I think that in the singing section (H,J) we pay just as much if not more than everyone else.
