Well now I have been to Withdean!!!

Well now I have been to Withdean, and ok maybe today with horizontal rain hitting me in the side just before kick off was not the best time, but I have finally been.

I must say I thoroughly enjoyed the match, I thought Brighton played Leeds off the pitch and special mentions should go to Leon Knight, Adam Virgo and Darren Currie. Although the whole team were very good.

Personally I am more used to Rugby matches and although I have been to Cardiff (playoff final) and Reading away, it was quite a shock to see the quality and amount of support you guys give at home.

I apologise to the blokes who were stood around Brisgull and myself in block H South stand for the quality of my chanting and not knowing all the words. But by full time I think I was doing pretty well and was quite often yelling "encouragement and advice" as we call it in rugby, to the ref.

All in all a thoroughly good day out, if only home matches were not 3 hours drive away

Anyway I am actually know becoming quite a convert so might see some of you at future home and away games, shifts permitting.

We met two Swedish blokes in the Brewery Tap yesterday before the match with bags of goodies, flags etc who were going to their first ever Brighton match.
One was celebrating his 40th birthday by coming to England and staying over in London. He has followed the Albion's results for 30 years and has always wanted to watch them play.

Apparently they wrote to the club and organised tickets.
They were asking us all sorts of questions about Falmer and the old Goldstone ground.
They have used the Scandinavian Seagulls site but we have also given them this url as well.
After the game they were really impressed with the team and couldn't believe that we could buy a Sports Argus at 6.15 to read about the match and see the photographs. We bought them a copy to take back with them.

I am the Albion fanatic for twentysomething (and maybe a couple more) years and Bloke is very happy to have me out of the house every saturday! He was a bit upset when I didnt renew my season ticket this year (almost as much as me!).

Am not sure which rugby team he supports, he goes to both Bristol and Bath depending on his shifts. Last week I had the pleasure of going to watch Bath play Wasps, it was his birthday and that is what he wanted!

Am sure I will get him to more games as and when he is not working on weekends! Next trip for him is West Ham then I think he is working weekends until Christmas

Well as Brisgull should know, I am a Shoguns fan, both parents bristolian and born twelve miles south of bristol who else could i support!

Only went to Bath as it was a premiership game with Wasps, my birthday and Bristol don't play on a saturday.

But as Bristol are joint top of the league we might well be back in the premier league soon.

The only problem with that is, we might then have to share Ashton gate, as the deal we have with Rovers only lets us play on a Sunday.

This could also cause other problems as I am really starting to follow the seagulls now.

You nurtured a fine scrum-half in Paul Hodgson, everyone at Irish hopes the Shoguns come up this year as you are the only ones with the ground and the fan base in League 1 to hack it in the Premiership

For many years in the 80s, I went to both London Welsh and Albion games. Then came the professional era and LW tripled their prices one season: I thought "sod it" and cancelled my season ticket.

It was great for a couple of years though, sport every Saturday. I tended to go to Albion more, but certainly liked my days at the Old Deer Park.

I could go to LW games with my girlfriend at the time, a passionate Welsh rugby supporter. Now, if only I could have found a Brighton-based girlfriend at the same time .....
