Manchester City have refused a request to move back their derby fixture against Manchester United next month.

United are scheduled to face City on Saturday 5 May at Eastlands, less than three days after the Champions League semi-final, second leg in Milan.

The Reds, who are also in the hunt for the Premiership title, asked to delay the derby game until Sunday 6 May.

However, City rejected the request and insist the game must go ahead as planned, with a 1245 (BST) kick-off.

Why is it bang out of order, why the f*** should City,or any team for that matter change the fixture, just to suit united?

I hope they stick to their guns, well done City.

Seeing that its on sky, didn't Man U have to agree for it to kick off early on the saturday in the first place before it become un-convenient for them to play it then?

I wonder what the answer would have been if Chelsea had made the request!

Its so small time behaviour it's really unbeleivable

The same in my book, why any small club should have to change a fixture because a big club says so is beyond me...

to benefit football in this country!

Why teams who are representing this country in Europe are treated like this beggars belief!

As if City have anything to play for!

But surley Man u must have agreed to the early start originally seeing that its on sky, if this is the case then they should have had been more forward thinking and said no due to this senario happening rather than grabbing the tv money

Think it would only benefit United and their American bankers. Good on City

How does it benefit English football, bhanutz? Quite apart from the fact that their European match (the source, I assume, of your pro-English football argument) is first, and the domestic game, in which they could feel tired, is second, who exactly benefits other than Man Utd?

As is being discussed on another thread here, Man Utd/Chelsea/Liverpool's run to the semis does absolutely nothing for English football as a whole. We can't get any more than four clubs into the Champions League, and guess which four that'll be every single season? Their hegemony ensures they're in every year, so they reap the financial benefits of the Champions League every year. Four clubs carve up a gigantic Champions League cake, which means they can buy an even bigger knife for next year's even bigger cake.

f*** 'em. All hail City...would you want us to accommodate Palace, if they had a fixture pile up?
