Peñarol (one of the most successful clubs in Uruguay) started life as the Central Uruguay Railway Cricket Club, and for years was known as CURCC Peñarol. Their first league match was against another team from Montevideo, called 'Albion FC'.

I think the best fact about Uruguayan football is the fact that their top division is made up of 12 teams, 11 of which are in Montevideo.

I thought having 6 London teams in the Premiership was quite a lot. Feel sorry for that 12th team really.

Hertha = Women's name, also "the strong" : some dopey Berliner term

This is not correct. Hertha Berliner Sport Club was formed by two brothers who got the name from a steam ship they used to go one as little boys. Also, the blue and white comes from the colours of the ship. A reference to the ship is the flag on the club badge.
