I’ve now had my intended final jab a few days ago, so all told I’ve done 16 weeks.

Week 1-4: 2.5MG dose
Week 2-12: 5MG dose
Week 13-16: 7.5MG dose

Started at 16st 2lbs in mid February and weighed in today at 12st 11 lbs, so a loss of 3st 5lbs to date.
The whole point for me was to break bad eating habits and huge portions and with the help of the drug it’s worked a treat, but I know the hard work really starts now!

I can’t be anything other than pleased - I’ve not weighed this low in probably 25 years!
I’ve not denied myself treats on occasion (fun sized malteser bags) but cutting out massive bars of chocolate and share size crisps most nights has been where the desire has vanished.
Been on two short hols as well and drank the amount of booze I’ve wanted to.

I’ve decided to stop as I’m happy at this size and want to try to maintain it without the drug, but all told it’s happy days indeed!
Fantastic, even the minimal side effects are nothing in comparison to the dangers of obesity. Congratulations and I wish you all the best in keeping it off.

I'm about your same starting weight as you were and would love to achieve what you have.
I'll be most interested to know how challenging you will find trying to keep the weight off once you stop taking the drug.

I know my wife and two adult children, who have never suffered from being over weight, will give me a hard time if I start taking the drug.
The recent Guardian article was very positive about the drugs but did warn of the need for most people to have to continue a maintenance programme for life.

What is the most recommended pathway of obtaining the drug?

A friend asks me whether, to add to the above, there are reliable sources outside the NHS pathway.

PM me if the answer is not best bandied about.

I’m now 2lb away from losing 7 stone, although the weight loss has slowed down a lot and has become quite gradual, even though I’m doing loads more exercise!
I’m ok with that though as I think I’ve reached my natural body weight, I’m now the same weight as I was when I was 21 just not quite as toned 🤣

I’m out running, circuit training twice a week and having a run around with the lads at the rugby club again, I’m 50 in September and one last game of rugby was my aim, and a vets reunion match has been arranged, so I’m hopeful of a full 80 minutes and to be able to actually run around the park !

I saw my best mate yesterday, who for whatever reason I’ve not seen for a month or so, commented that it’s the slimmest hes seen me since we were kids and as a reformed fat bastard it was exactly what I needed to hear.

I’ve also reversed my high blood pressure and the Drs have told me I no longer need to take any medication.

I’ll stay on my current dose for a few more months until I’ve done a full year and then I’ll start dosing down.

If anyone’s still on the fence, go for it, it’s literally changed my life !

Interested to know why your wife (and kids if adults) would not want you to become more healthy- unless you are worth a few quid and she/they have plans for after your unhealthy demise?!

I've also been very lucky on the weight front- but would give no one a hard time who wants to do the best for themselves.

Because they have portion control, avoid sweets, and exercise regularly. Thereby demonstrating how to successfully control their body weight.
They are likely to think it's money that can avoid being spent if I show self-discipline.
And they would also be wary of any unknown long term side-effects that might come in the future.

Meanwhile, I like a curry, enjoy fried food, love ice cream and don't exercise enough.
My thinking is that my behaviour is unlikely to change and if it does help me lose weight it will also likely reduce my chances of suffering from several other medical problems in the future,

Probably saying what you know already. It’d be incredibly difficult to get your family’s BMI, without this intervention or possibly years of dedicated self discipline of an almost daily calories deficit (with the accompanying ‘hungry’ feeling and background food noise).

I’d emphasise to family that I want to be around for them for many decades to come. One not often known ill of being overweight is that it increases the risk of some cancers, I discovered this in a brush with a bowel tumour.

I’ll post an update in a month or so update how the challenge has been since coming off the drug.
