Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question.

I've just 'bought' my first ever domain name & paid for 2 years worth.
(I used 123-reg)

If I want to extend (keep) it in a couple of years time, will it cost more or will it cost around the same?
Does it depend on how how many hits etc?
Should I have paid for 5 years?

I think the domain name is now your property. The company 123-reg just administer that domain for you. You will either be able to renew in 2 years time or you can transfer the domain to another administrator if you prefer. As its a competitive market the prices are unlikely to increase and its not affected by the number of hits etc.
